Hi,
Can the game please not autostart the new season/DLC/Activity when we log in for the first time after it drops?
1. Players may need to clean out postmaster before doing the new activity so they don’t lose valuable items. Leaving after they land breaks the immersion and negatively impacts the players they were forced to matchmake with
2. Players may want to experience the new activities for the first time with their friends, lovers, clan members, etc…and would like an opportunity to join up before being thrown in
3. Players may not be ready to do new content on their alts, and are forced to skip opening cutscenes so they can quickly rejoin their clan or group for raid boss farming, etc…I’m still sad I missed rewatching Zavala’s epic “no” to Caiatl on my alts for this reason 😭
Please consider not automatically starting new content when we log in for the first time after it drops, thank you.
Edit: Additional points brought up in the comments:
4. Many players like to start a Destiny session by picking up bounties and getting their gear ready for an activity
5. New players might get even more lost and confused if they’re still catching up story wise
6. Some players habitually go afk while the game logs in, then they miss the cutscene
Edit Edit:
Many people are asking about #1 - I don’t normally have this particular issue, but my teammate does. His vault and characters are always full of what he considers good/god roll weapons, and he actually does use almost every weapon he owns. The sandbox changes so often that what he may not use this season will be viable next season. I personally think it’s ridiculous, and it’s also annoying we have to stop and pause so he can play musical chairs with his weapons after almost every activity, but we love him anyway.

I think that your 5th point was the most pertinent one. When I logged into the game for the second time, Beyond Light's opening quest started and I had no idea what was happening. When I eventually caught up with the lore and stuff, then I wasn't able to do that opening mission and get the intro for that quest again with my warlock because it had already technically taken place. So that was pretty annoying. But for dares of eternity, I actually really liked getting hijacked like that. But that was because I had already done prophecy dungeon and understood what was happening somewhat. (And its a repeatable, quick activity) I think that a nice compromise would be to have a notification that appears and lets you opt-in to the mission. I think that a lot of people would just let it happen, but for new people and your friend, it would be nice to get a second to get caught-up/prepared, then log in to the intro activity. Maybe only allow players to go to the tower/helm in the meantime.

1 返信Understandable, However, for players like myself that have been here from day one and are up to date with everything it's actually more immersive. I got worried with the black screen after selecting my warlock then heard xur start speaking and got all excited. Once it started it was unknown and very welcomed. I had no idea what was going on but enjoyed the environment and multitudes of enemies to slay. So from my perspective it was done extremely well but can see how it could be a little annoying for those not in my boat.

Huh, I'm in the minority that dug it. It was a welcome surprise and woke me up, usually I log in and start putting around before I even load into an activity. Run back and forth...pick up bounties...mess around with gear, troll ppl in the tower, blah blah blah. Having no time to prepare...I thought that was kind of the point, and kind of made it funner for me. It's not like it's a high stakes activity. Just pure fun and weirdness. Plus I dig the idea of having your gameplay skills tested as a "guardian" without the assist of a perfect build and buffs. It's like being sent out on stage without all your makeup on...hopefully your other skills come through enough to distract the audience lol. There's some major monotony associated with playing Destiny and this broke me out of that, at least for a couple minutes. I honestly wish they would do more stuff like this.

2 通の返信Trick Nor Treatにより編集済み: 12/10/2021 1:55:00 PMI logged in for first time in over 6 weeks for express purpose of cleaning out inventory, and was thrown into DoE game in progress just before transition to what a appeared to be a final boss battle against a Vex Minotaur. Helped whittle down boss health to a fraction, with no idea what was going on, when game crashed to Xbox Series X Home screen. When I logged in again next day, game started in Director like normal. If there was a backstory to the DoE event, I have no clue as to what it was as I never got to hear DoE introduction or narration during early part of game. Never tried DoE again as I discovered all my Stasis powers were gone because Beyond Light removed from Gamepass (prior to BL on GP, I had purchased every release of Destiny content since Y1). Every one of my 3 Guardians were built around using Stasis, and having completed season pass weeks ago, I can't justify spending the money just to regain Stasis. And the Halo Infinite Campaign download just completed - so I can't justify the time either. Maybe I'll be back after WQ release, but likely not as there will be fierce competition for my gaming time early next year (Elden Ring, Tiny Tina, Stalker, Avowed). See You, Space Cowboy(s)!

10 通の返信The theme is literally being kidnapped this time around. You can legit just orbit out if it bothers you that much. The app can pick up postmaster stuff and pick up bounties. It’s easy mode, champion mods are not required for that light level and will be apparent the second you fight one. If you do have trouble then that’s a skill issue on your end lol If you got stuff to do maybe do them before selecting your character on launch day. When you know full well a pve event is happing maybe be prepared when you log off before it starts? You are complaining about actually nothing.

2 通の返信I can agree with number 5, which stands as a valid point. A new player is gonna be like, " what the heck is going on here". I would also agree to that point about auto starting activities for players. I'd rather see in the director, " new mission available" and click the appropriate icon myself. Or for that matter putting together a fire team, unless it was meant to be a solo mission. But afk and postmaster maintenance is on the player.

The-IIID-Emp1r3により編集済み: 12/12/2021 2:27:48 PMYknow, you can always go back to orbit or to the tower even if it does autolaunch the intro mission, it ain't that hard, bungie aren't forcing you to do it Also geez this massive wall of text all cuz your jimmies are rustled you got autopulled into an fresh activity, do you also lose your mind whenever they autoplay a cutscene at the start/end/etc of a dlc/season? This is trivial stuff.

I totally agree. Was forced into Dares of Eternity while I still had a PVP build equipped. Ended up doing most of the mission with a messenger and a fusion rifle (I typically use double grenade launchers in PVE).

2 通の返信Puma Kaneにより編集済み: 12/11/2021 12:14:14 PMYou not being organized and blaming the developer is not fair to them or people that take time to clear up inventory. Come on now, it doesn't take that long to delete stuff. lol

2 通の返信Stop hoarding so much that you need your postmaster to hold things. It's okay to let go
-
5 通の返信To the first why the he'll are people not leaving their inventory organised between content drops that's like saying I'm going on holiday next week but deciding on the day your leaving to do all your washing and pack your bag just stupid
-
5 通の返信How else are they supposed to get people who haven't bought the content to buy the content? They have to force them into a trial of the activity to attempt to force them to buy.
-
4 通の返信Its minor but please stop doing this. I really doubt my 5 teammates enjoyed watching me move guns/mods for half the round.
-
Agreed. I hate that they do this. Sometimes my weapons are all on another character. A story mission is not a problem as I can go to orbit without burdoning someone. But don't shove me into a multiplayer activity without a warning please.
-
1 返信yeah i immediately went to orbit. My ps4 is so slow now on Destiny that the screen was black even after the activity started. Just loading the visuals

3 通の返信Oryx's Slimy Wormにより編集済み: 12/10/2021 10:09:29 AMThe theme of the event is you get kidnapped by xur to participate in a death game that him and a horse host for the realms. I think its fine as is

I also dislike this. Plus, from a technical and historical standpoint it’s just a poor decision. Not everyone has the same connection to the lates 90s/early 2ks PtP nonsense Bungie clings to, and there’s always day one bugs. Couldn’t progress on splicer’s intro story til day 2.

21 通の返信While at it, maybe they could use actual horse sounds not some voice actor making poorly attempted sounds that have us feeling awkward at how bad it is. It makes me glad that nobody has been watching me play
