Same. My quest is broken in the same way.
Went and got the anomalous object but after that interacting with banshee didnt do anything. I went ahead and abandoned the quest and after picking it up again i am stuck on the "get the key from xur part". I still have the unfinished weapon in my inventory as well.
pls help bungie lol

I have a similar situation have Banshee showing that he has the exotic for me to pick up. I read the quest text where he repairs the forerunner but when I went to claim it I didn't have room on my character so I move something into the vault went back to Bashee and he doesn't give me the option to get the weapon quest is stuckl...Help @Bungie to resolve this.

I actually was able to resolve this by abandoning the quest, picking it back up and going back to xur. From the second page he still has the strange key available and though I couldn't go back to pickup the anomalous object I was able to go to Banshee and have him offer me the Forerunner again...I was able to use DIM to make the slot available this time in my primary slot and viola I got it to complete. Hope this helps.
