Trials has never been skill based matchmaking and should never be.
Trials was created as a hard core pvp mode to challenge high skilled pvp players.
Bungie is trying out changes to help people but at the end of the day Bungie will only hold your hand for so long.
If you want the Lighthouse then you have to prove you are worthy.
To do that you need to win and beat all opposition at their skill level.
If you can not win you have a number of options...
1. Keep on trying to increase your skill level.
2. Play another D2 activity instead.

So pub stomping isn't a thing yet that's ok because why? The high skilled players deserve some easy games ?? SBMM levels the playing field it's not getting your hand held .

Trials is not there for the average player. It is there to push the best. To earn the Lighthouse you have to prove you are worthy by beating the best. If you can not/unwilling to do that then you don't deserve the Lighthouse. Bungie has helped make it easier but to win you need to show that you can beat others no matter what the skill level they are. To bring in skill based matchmaking defeats the spirt of Trials and makes it just another pvp mode. Trials would lose it's standing and bragging rights to those worthy to ware that armour. If you don't want to accept this play normal Crucible pvp.

🤦...... SBMM only benefits Below Average players while hurting Average to Above Average players. SBMM is good for increasing ones Skill in select modes which prepares one for the Hardcore mode that has no SBMM. When Devs place SBMM in every playlist.....NO ONE CAN IMPROVE! Everyone is stuck in their bracket Skill level. Elimination and Survival have SBMM, where it belongs. SBMM was all over the place in D2Y1 and Destiny nearly died.

You improve by playing better in other modes. Elimination is there. If you can’t keep a positive KD in control, you shouldn’t even be in trials in the first place. Trials’s whole point of existence is to be the hardcore PvP activity, where the best of the best can show that. You, clearly, are not. So wait and be patient, practice your skill until you are capable.
