Right now, the single shot tether is not where it needs to be in PvP.
It's range isn't that great and the activation time is quite slow. By the time a tether activates, most players will only have to walk a meter or two and they're out.
Silence and squall is basically a better version of tether, it activates instantly, has about the same range or even more and freezes people for about the same time that one is tethered. And that's just the first part of the super!
All tether needs, is to make it's activation time instantaneous when players are near, as well as suppress supers on direct hits.
I think these two buffs would make tether feel better and cause people to take it more seriously.

Edit: I know the tree is based around trapping but we need to be realistic here.
The smoke bomb is good for radar manipulation, but the tether does not work well as a trap. Perhaps it's effective against a rushing super, but most people are going to avoid the tether trap or can easily escape it.
Setting a tether trap is a gamble if anyone is going to fall in it, and the one thing people hate is wasting their super.
The playstyle that Single-shot Tether encourages is slow, and not that helpful either.
Tether was probably best during the first Destiny and had fallen behind when Destiny 2 released, and keeps on getting more irrelevant.
Hopefully, when the void subclasses are updated to match the stasis format, Bungie will take a look at tether and give it some much needed love.

2 通の返信single shot and multi shot just need to be more usable maybe the third person either needs to go or be permanent and the arrows need more consistency
-
2 通の返信Tether will never have insta proc cause titans and warlocks will start crying like they have been about shatterdive
-
6 通の返信Maybe a good buff would make the tether suppress EVERYTHING that's an ability. Like a trophy system, delete incoming grenades and projectiles from supers.

7 通の返信Anyone talking "trapping" is being intellectually dishonest. They know damn well this games movement is too broken for that. Not to mention D1 tether in its current state is STILL better than D2 tether ever has been.

1 返信Don’t forget about it’s aim. It shouldn’t go 2-3 foot to the side of your reticle!

1 返信Honestly I think I'd rather just pull out a void bow like golden gun that one shots anything. Maybe head shots. Or the ability to hold down a skill button to suck some of the energy out of my super to instantly recharge an ability basically just making it a resevoir. But people would get pissy about that.

3 通の返信Fun fact: due to the extreme rampancy of latency, a direct hit with a Tether usually doesn’t result in an instant tether, as it’s supposed to! Just another reason to make it instant activation (:

2 通の返信Pretty sure I remember something in a previous twab about the updates coming to the tether super for void 2.0. Can't recall the exact details, but I remember thinking it sounded promising!

I miss the rework they did in D1. Not only did it home in on targets originally but they reduced the lag between the shot landing and the tethers coming out as well as in crucible it suppressed on hit too. So if there was a roaming super coming your way, if you landed the hit on them it would suppress their super immediately.

4 通の返信Setting time should remain the same. Activation time, tracking, and the slow penalty should be increased, so that you are actually setting off a trap that makes you worry.

9 通の返信no we dont want a meta where tether instantly is shutting all the supers down, tether can shut any super down in 12 meters, there needs to be an activation time otherwise it would be too broken
-
Yeah the very few times that I've played pvp, I've had supers blow right through the tether I set up. Hell a smash titan can activate their super and kill you a whole second before the tether trap activates, which also means that they can destroy your tether trap and go on their merry way defeating the entire purpose of the super
-
1 返信The one-shot tether should just detonate like a suppressor grenade when it hits the ground, regardless of whether enemies are around. That’d be your immediate activation

Void is getting the ‘Fragment/Aspect’ rebuild in February Don’t expect Bungie to change the current Tether ability (it’s been broken/underwhelming for a long time) But then don’t expect them to fix it in February either….it’ll be 1000 & 1 types of f****ed up!

2 通の返信I've been playing nightstalker since d1 and I have to say, it is waaay better in d2. It's short comings have always been an issue in pvp. Too slow, not enough range, accuracy issues, not enough damage, etc. Its not ment for pvp, it's an ad clearer and if enough ads are around a boss then it has the potential to devastate the boss. Sure, it could use some tlc to help make it more competitive. Bungie did announce that it's getting an overhaul in the next dlc, so I say just be patient. Wait to see what changes they make first then reassess your thoughts about it. Who knows, tether just might become top tier after the changes and you'll get to feel like a pvp god until it gets nerfed into oblivion,...again.

23 通の返信Man just move on if you think tether needs this much help? If you don’t use it like a trap then you’re doing it wrong
