There's been a big theory floating around that the big twist for Destiny in one of the coming expansions is that the world of Destiny is actually a simulation or that Savathûn and maybe some other characters know that they are in a game and are trying to get out. This may just be me and an unpopular opinion, but I really hope that they don't go this route. It reminds me a lot of those old theories about how the main character of a thing is actually in a coma or that it was all just a dream. It just seems like that if they go and say "hey Destiny is actually just a simulation," then all the lore and character development that we've been invested in just won't matter because it never actually "happened" anyway. That and a lot of the evidence that is used honestly just feel like they where put into the game as jokes and refrences. Most players might not even see most of them so it might feel like it came out of nowhere.

I’m curious why people would think just because the vex can’t simulate something it means we’re not in a simulation. Who cares what the vex can or cannot do, they are not paracausal. If anyone, it would be the gardener and the winnower running the simulation or the simulation is being governed through them by someone completely outside the simulation. Any paracausal beings simply achieved some independence from the main code, like a virus.

3 通の返信Lore Oradonにより編集済み: 9/30/2021 8:42:15 PMThis has been Confirmed. With Rasputin existing...he Alone Destroys that theory. Edit: Destiny is Not a Simulation. And light.

If Destiny is a similation then it would be too similar to No Man's Sky. Destiny has at least 3 different alien race, and so does No Man's Sky. In No Man's Sky, when you reach the deep center of the universe you would find the Atlas which turns out that it was all a similation and you were given an option to stop and reset the whole universe or continue on staying in the same universe. Nah, I think Destiny should be Destiny and leave the whole No Man's Sky out of it.

1 返信been explained in game (dont remember where, i think it was an adventure on nessus) but vex can't simulate light, so the odds we're in a simulation are incredibly slim

Especially since Danganronpa and Doki Doki both did this. No one will ever top how Spike Chunsoft and Dan Salvato handled their characters knowing they were in a game and wanted to get out. And other developers know they won't top it, so they don't try to.

Would not be surprised if they ended it that way, Bungie is not the best at story telling. The revolt of Bungie would blow away the Mass Effect 3 ending revolt of Bioware. Bioware still hasn't fully recovered from that one.

6 通の返信What other explanation of paracausal would make sense. I don’t think we’ll ever get to break that 4th wall or the game would be pretty much over, but it’s as good an explanation as any.

1 返信That would rock. It would make an incredible unintentional bit. Seven years of muddled storytelling boiling down to a dumb guy theory.

2 通の返信I hope the furthest they go in acknowledging it is having a handful of particularly powerful, near-omniscient entities (e.g. The Nine) being loosely aware they’re inside a video game, but that knowledge not diminishing their ambitions in the game’s story (and especially not sharing that information with other characters).

Whatever they will do has already been set in motion and won't change at this juncture. Having said that, that would be a really stupid final shape so I doubt it. However, Bungie hates it's playerbase soooo.

2 通の返信I think it will be difficult for the game designers to ignore. The idea that the real world is a simulation is sort of a secular religion lately, with people like Elon Musk saying that since we will inevitably create self-aware AI inside simulations, the number of simulations will be enormously larger than the one true reality, hence we are almost certainly in a simulation. This theory falls apart if you do not assume we can or will create self-aware AI inside a simulation. We are nowhere close to creating self-aware AI and have no idea how to do so. I doubt it is possible. But it's an article of faith that it will happen any minute now if it hasn't happened already. This is the intellectual atmosphere that people like game designers are in, and probably a big part of their "intellectual" discussions with each other. So, brace yourself.

Sol, The Architect Mindにより編集済み: 9/28/2021 8:08:52 PMIt more like summing up all of existence, the final beings at the end of the universes life, and how some don't believe in an end or that they shouldn't be bound by rules of a universe that they were created in...so it's kind of hard to say...with terms like paracausality, that adhere to part of a definition with said universe. Edit: what I'm saying is...technically gardener and winnower already set this up and plotted it...they hold the beginning and end of existence. Their Destiny is everything in between that sets up their existence as the reason for anyone else existing, but some figured this out and...they're trying to unravel fate/destiny, to exploit what the gardener and winnower perceive as their own universe or reality, and bend the rules to set themselves up as gods.

2 通の返信It's always been a simulation. Do you see content coming and going? New content being vaulted and 7 year old content coming back again while their story has been told years ago? It's always been a simulation. It's a hamster wheel simulator! To do what? Milk the cow! Throw money at the simulation on your screen. LMFAO!!!
