Before I start, I want to make the point that in no way am I knocking what Bungie are trying to do for trials. The last couple of weeks have seen huge numbers taking part, and that can only be good for the game. And in these early days of reform, they're making changes every week in order to maintain those numbers. I applaud them for their efforts. It's certainly encouraged me to take part..
BUT. Some of the comments by some of my favourite youtubers have made me wonder about the changes, first one being the flawless v flawless pool. They were saying that after going flawless once, they couldn't jump into a match with friends who hadn't gone flawless. So how come they didn't go flawless with their friends in the first place? And the majority of their friends are probably already seasoned flawless players anyway. I think "friends" really means "carries".
Another one who I subscribe to ended a very recent vid by saying," I'll certainly be taking part this weekend, so make sure you enter those raffles if you want to get carried".
Which brings me to the new mode being introduced this week. What chance will new , casual, and solo players have to go flawless this week in zone control? Hardly any if they're not being carried. Seasoned teams will just wait till the zone point appears, and wipe out less knowledgable and solo player teams in seconds. It'll be the easiest week for carries ever, and I bet the end figures will show record flawless numbers....made up by those who are carried. In addition to the fact that there'll be 2 whole days before the flawless pool starts, the streamers will think christmas has come early.
Now. This really wouldn't bother me at all IF solo matchmaking was already in operation. I'd just play knowing that win or lose, it's down to me and the other 2 randoms to progress. But it isn't and I'm going to be just another one of the sixty something percent of players used as target practice for the carrying teams.
Although win trading is not technically cheating, it is a bannable offence now, but I don't see how carries are any different. You are still being handed victories and end rewards for no effort.
Bungie may do stupid things sometimes, but they are far from stupid, and these changes are indirectly benefiting themselves AND the streamers/content creators, and I can't see solo matchmaking being introduced in the near future.
Until then, half a million of us will just be cannon fodder.
Finally, another youtuber I follow stated in a recent video that the Vex was one of most powerful all round weapons in Destiny this season, yet it is one of the hardest to get because of a 5% rng drop rate.
Funny how 99% of videos you watch show the host using said weapon in the background footage. Coincidence?

Every single thing you mentioned would be complained about by normal players too. Im not a streamer and I dont like flawless vs flawless matchmaking because it means I can only reliably solo queue to flawless once per weekend; that first card is always easy but as soon as Im past 7 wins Im matching 3 stack coordinated teams who are beatable but it's not fun anymore. In the first week, when there was no flawless matchmaking, I solo queue flawlessed 5 times. It would be nice if I could do that every weekend. I understand why flawless matchmaking exists, I don't neccessarily disagree with it, but it should definitely not be account wide.

2 通の返信This is Bungie 50/50 compromise. If they abandoned their streamers then the popularity will just plunge unbearably and I bet some salty unemployable streamer will just spread hate if they get hit hard by this. So it's the least of worse options IMHO for Bungie 🤷♂️

14 通の返信Flawless vs Flawless came from a wide array of people.......used to see it on here quite a lot. Some of their feedback is taken on of course but it's not just solely streamer feedback. It's just easier to blame them when they're showing off their success.

2 通の返信What if...Bungie employees and their friends are the youtube/streamers? Tweak a setting here or there, and those on the inside can boost their income easily. Drops, damage, hits, matchmaking...everything is subject to manipulation. Just throwing this out there as a possibility...it is not like any official spokesbot will ever comment.

16 通の返信Any time someone blames content creators for something they don't like they automatically are no longer taken seriously in my book. Maybe, JUST MAYBE, if you don't like the game mode don't play it. Done, problem solved.

24 通の返信
Why don’t they go flawless with their friends?
MY FRIENDS ARE .3S. I need my carry partner with me lmao. I’m not that much of a -blam!- that I can 1v3 a full trials flawless card. Also, I help my whole clan. Not just one or two people. Sheesh, give a guy a break and make it a little easier on me lmao.

1 返信Freakにより編集済み: 9/24/2021 2:42:19 PMLoL I’m not a streamer but I literally said what Bungie is doing now A WEEK AGO. Many Players have more than OnE friend. And more than ONE CHARACTER This upcoming change is the best of both worlds. I am not a Prophet And honestly if you think these changes are just benefiting Streamers, YOURE NOT PAYING ATTENTION They literallygave us the numbers. And Trials report via Twitter goes very deep into the analytics on a weekly basis. And most categories were way down last week than the 1st. Except for the First Ever Flawless. Which will obviously shrink as the season goes on. That stat is Fleeting and isn’t Sustainable. The repeatability of Trials last weekend was down by almost Half. 48%. The Average player went Flawless once and Didn’t even attempt a second. And those that did attempt a second failed to do so again 67% of the time. That’s not sustainable. Last week’s Flawless MM hurt the Average Player the Most. And Win trading is nothing like Carrying. This change is the best for all parties involved.

As far as “new, casual, and solo players” go, most of them aren’t playing trials solely to go flawless... It’s for the loot. It’s an end game pvp activity with some of the best guns in the game and coolest armor. Just the fact that they have the opportunity to grind out ranks, win or lose, is a huge benefit for all players, regardless of skill, and the health of the playlist. These changes aren’t being done for the few high priority streamers or youtubers.

This is already 1000x better than the old Osiris so I don't think we should complain too much. Just forcing Flawless vs Flawless is huge, yeah a handful of streamers can't carry, some can though even with the flawless cards. The best thing about it is forcing them out and giving a huge chunk of players a chance which they never had ( hell you could get flawless teams in your first game smashing all hopes and dreams ). The biggest thing for me and many others is not getting stomped in every single match, I don't care about flawless I just like the format and potential rewards after grinding, those who want to sweat still have the option, honestly believe this is the only good decision and solution Bungie has ever come up with.

4 通の返信Dude they gave us lower players our loot for getting stomped relentlessly the 1st week, the 2nd week we still took our L's but it kinda gave us a chance, but after all the whining, especially from content creators this has just changed back to week 1 essentially, no flawless MM until midday Sunday in the US? That's the whole weekend in Europe/Asia, it will be a 0-5 bloodbath for the newer players all over again. Hey at least we got some loot we'd never have had originally.

2 通の返信A_moにより編集済み: 9/24/2021 10:03:45 AMWhy would anyone watch someone else using vex to play trials?
Bungie may do stupid things sometimes, but they are far from stupid, and these changes are indirectly benefiting themselves AND the streamers/content creators, and I can't see solo matchmaking being introduced in the near future.
A variety of people are benefitting from the way its set up currently. Lower skilled players being one of the biggest beneficiaries. They also tend to be the ones lining up for these carries. Its never going to be advantageous to play solo and a solo only queue has its issues as well in 3v3s.
