Last week was fine.
Record breaking numbers, massive amounts of positive feedback from 90% of the player base.
You don't fundamentally change things after a weekend like that. Nope nope nope.

Just look at d1 end compared to d2 launch. Bungie have a systemic issue of trying to change the things that they see as issues rather than the people who play the game and their issues. Absolutely no one asked for 2 primary/ 1 heavy system but hey bungie wanted to do it. Look at sunsetting, everyone hated it, and now we get re issues etc and all because bungie wanted to get rid of the pinnacle weapons that they open themselves up to criticism cos we hold them to account each season to make sure they’re filling the gaps in weapon types. Then trials, whether it degraded the achievement or not of flawless, last week was the most positive I’ve seen regarding trials and that’s all the way back to d1 launch. But now they make this change which all the criers seem to think is only top players upset with but no, a good player could go flawless on each character last week, now they will only go flawless once, the really good top tier players really don’t care cos they will stomp everyone anyway and can always reset their cards to do the carries and then run their own characters on Monday night for their flawless.

Sohsuhにより編集済み: 9/20/2021 1:14:33 PMExactly. Bungie can never just hold onto something that is seen as positive by the vast majority. It literally makes no sense even from a business standpoint. You have this record breaking weekend and TONS of positive feedback all over the internet on every platform, and their first instinct is to change how it fundamentally works? What kind of bonehead decision making is that? Do they want smaller numbers for some reason? Who the hell would ever do that with their own business? Then you have the kids who love saying "It wasn't sustainable" it's like hey Bruno, we never saw if it was sustainable or not because they didn't even let it play out longer than 1 weekend, which broke effin records mind you. My god.

fine for the flawless guys matching up against the non flawless peps.. that was just annoying for the non flawless guys. this week feels so much better imo. winning and losing on and off, feeling like i'm improving and not feeling like I just get hopelessly steam rolled like last week.
-
It is not Flawless people matching non Flawless people. It's players matching players. It shouldn't matter if you have gone Flawless or not. If you are hopelessly getting steamrolled then maybe you aren't ready for an end game pvp mode. Why does the system have to change for your benefit when you could just put more time and effort into getting better and not getting steamrolled?
-
ah yes, cause getting steam rolled teaches you how to play better... oh silly me what was i thinking! when i die over and over again, it teaches me... teaches me not to have fun! its a game man... it should have fair match making, not good players matching with people who are trying trials for the first time. the way it is now, its enjoyable for me. now it might not be for you who wants to steam roll newbies and get your flawless gear in only 7 wins total. but that's me assuming, and that might not be true for you.

You can practice in other modes. You don't practice in Trials. Go play Rumble/Control/Elimination and get better. Go into private modes to learn routes in the map and how to maneuver around better. Etc. The matchmaking is fair from day 1. We are all in the same boat. Some people have put more time and effort into it so they will be better. That is fair. We all have the means to get better. We can all get groups. We can all practice. Manipulating matchmaking systems and locking people out is not fair.

If they get baited that is their own fault. They make their own decisions. But to punish the people who put in a lot of time and effort, and ruin it for the majority of the player base, just so people with 0.3KD's can maybe get a Flawless, is an awful, awful decision for the long term health of the mode.

They aren't the majority. The majority loved the changes last week. Look at the numbers. Look at all the posts on reddit, twitter, the forums. They were all positive except for that bottom 5% who think for some odd reason that they can just waltz into an end game pvp mode when they only play 3 matches a month. Now look this week. The numbers are way down. Look at the posts on reddit, twitter, and the forums. They are all super negative, except for the bottom 5% who think it's great that they were protected from ANYONE who went flawless, and that matchmaking gave them easy matches if they lost a bunch in a row. Bungie is catering to the wrong side.
-
I do think they made it too easy but at the same time look what the trials player base has been like for years when they cater to the streamer cry babies. Most of this crying is a result of streamers throwing fits because they made bank off trials. If people can get their own flawless they won't sit in a twitch chat all weekend donating n begging for a carry.
-
Last week catered to the 90% middle players. Last week had the most positive feedback the mode has ever had. Record breaking numbers. It is incredibly foolish to now cater to the 5% of people who did not enjoy last week. You don't cater to the bottom 5%. You cater to the vast majority that gave you positive feedback.
-
the first week would have the best numbers no matter what they did, they could have made it freelance only but with matchmaking and a revamp to saint, revamped game modes week 1 are always going to get more players, the stats I've seen for this weekend is that trials only went down 5% players on the second weekend on a terrible map
-
The numbers are lower this week. Obviously there will be more people going flawless considering they made it easy mode for people. But the actual numbers for the population playing are smaller. There is also an overwhelming amount of negative feedback on the forums, reddit, and twitter, as well as CIVILWAR trending. How is any of that BETTER than the first week? Please tell me.

We have had 700k players so far compared to 750k last week. That's not a massive difference. Plus putting that slight decrease down to the recent changes is devoid of any proof as we have no clue about players' motifs. The increased number of flawless cards has already shown that claims that god tier players will keep resetting their cards en masse to stampede the casuals in the non flawless queue are wrong. All these complaints about the recent changes are just wrong and numbers show that they haven't had a massive impact on the player base so far. But people love to jump to conclusions. Especially since this forum has developed a massive complaint culture in recent times.
