The 7 years of Destiny post just reminded me how much better, more hype and healthier the expansion structure was for Destiny.
Yea the most hardcore players complain about significant content droughts in D1 in between the releases but when new content arrived, it ARRIVED. No drip fed and forced "come back every single week" type of content. You got hyped up with a great cinematic, fired up the game at launch day, could decide on your own how to play and WHEN to play and could enjoy other games on the side.
Thats how i saw it. I enjoyed that old expansion system SO much more, its not even funny. Bungie, you need to realize that fluctuating player numbers are NORMAL and okay for mmo's. Stop forcing the consistent player engagement by drip feeding literally everything these days. We should decide when WE want to play Destiny. We are not pre-schoolers who need their hand to be held and their time managed to the absolute maximum.
If i want to take 2 weeks off cause i'm excited to play a new major dlc and burn through it, let me do so. And if i want to play half an hour every day and slowly enjoy the new content, let me do that too. Whats so hard to understand that none of us have similar schedules, priorities and time. Sometimes i have 0 hours left of my day for weeks upon weeks, i can not catch up during those times. And then i have a week off and want to sink my time into D2 to really enjoy the game and catch up content wise just to realize that literally nothing is completable within that week. Everything is locked behind a weekly rotation or is even more stretched out due to scheduled releases within the given season.
Let us play OUR way again, please for the love of god.
It's rather burning me out, feeling the need to have to login every single week to stay up to date, instead of keeping me interested and engaged.

A better idea would be to ditch the whole major dlc model and keep the seasons the way they are then bungie can add in new content whenever they want and we don't have to wait for a year to get new crucible maps and strikes we could get new missions every month or whenever and it all leads up to a new raid or whatever they want to do

13 通の返信Actually, think about it: D1 Y1 had the vanilla campaign + 2 small DLC D1 Y2 had one beeg DLC (and the April update but that's not a DLC drop) D1 Y3 had one big DLC So every year in D1 has at least one major content drop. And again: D2 Y1 had the vanilla campaign + 2 small DLC D2 Y2 had one beeg DLC + 3 seasons D2 Y3 had one big DLC + 4 seasons D2 Y4, Y5, Y6, Y7 had/will have one big DLC + 4 seasons Point is, D2 actually does follow the D1 model but has seasons added onto it to keep players coming back (which definitely works for me) and to tie up loose threads in the story. Not only that, but they add new weapons, gear, weapon perks, free and paid cosmetics, exotics, exotics quests, story missions, and meaningful character interactions/developments. I think the seasons link together quite nicely and set us up for the yearly expansion too. It's weird how people will go from praising seasons like Opulence, Chosen, Splicer and Lost, to reminiscing about how great the D1 expansion model was and how bad the D2 model is compared to it.

4 通の返信Sohsuhにより編集済み: 9/10/2021 2:57:03 PMI agree. The drip fed model is BRUTAL. It is seriously hurting my enjoyment for this game. When Tuesday hits, like this past Tuesday for instance, I literally have like 40 minutes of new stuff, the Shattered Realm, and then it's back to the same old stuff. It's terrible. Go collect some things for an exotic quest for 10 mins, then get told to come back next WEEK? Like give me a break. A new season just released and it doesn't even feel like it. I am grinding all the old stuff. Doing Presage, Harbinger, Vault of Glass, strikes, Gambit, Crucible. Astral Alignment is incredibly boring and hasn't even changed since the first day. Only 2 bosses for a brand new mode? And it's in the bloody Blind Well? We couldn't even get a new location for the boss fights??? Drip feeding only works if there's a proper amount of content to drip feed. These seasons just don't have a ton of content so what they drip feed to us is barely anything. They think leveling up is content. They think grinding pinnacles in OLD ACTIVIES is content. Where is the new content? Where's a new dungeon? Where's new Astral Alignment areas? Where's the legendary Astral Alignment? We're 3 weeks in just let us enjoy the bloody game! Is it even going to have new loot? We need new things to grind here. I feel like I am still in Season of the Splicer. A 5 min story, shattered realm, and I am back to the same old stuff. At least an old expansion had like 3-5 weeks worth of steady grinding new things. I don't care about a drought period, because the time I was playing was memorable. It was packed with stuff and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Now with the seasons, I find myself bored every Tuesday night, waiting for the next WEEK to hit, just so I can enjoy 15 minutes of actual new stuff. It's terrible. Let me enjoy the game at my own pace. Quit drip feeding me a spoonful of nothing.

Yeah the only reason I'm doing this season content is because it's going to be the foundation for the witch Queen. last season I barely touched the content I only came back for the epilogue and for the splicer seal. Destiny is starting to feel more and more like division 2 seasonal model the only reason Destiny is not worse than division 2 at this moment is because Bungie has such a major YouTube twitch following to keep the game alive and updated for players with videos and such etc Most people don't want to admit when major division two YouTubers Life the game most of the player base left with them the same thing would happen to Destiny. I mean look at outriders or cyberpunk after everything that happened to those games those games are still popular because of YouTubers because they're making money off it even though the game failed they're able to make rant videos. 🤔

1 返信So you can blast your way through all the content in 2 weeks then come crying here again? Lol
-
1 返信What's bother me the most is how bungie kept bringing a lot of D1 stuff to D2 over the years. Where's the new PVP maps? What about new maps for Gambit? A well-written story that be enjoyed for hours on end? Oh man, when the Taken King first came out, I had a great time playing this DLC. It was an amazing experience.

34 通の返信You're very conveniently not mentioning that those smaller DLC's would have less than a few hours worth of content and we'd be done with them in a week. Anyone who genuinely thinks that model was better either never played those DLCs or has rose tinted glasses fueled by nostalgia.

Dude, I get your pain man... really I do. But honestly, I think the idea of seasons aren't bad, it's jus how they're being handled. Bungie is still trying to figure out how to make them work. But this season is better than the other ones we've had recently. Each week, instead of one quest, there's two and the story for this season is more enjoyable. I feel like we are progressing more than we were when beyond light was released. I'm not saying that this game is the best, but bungie is starting to figure things out. It may not be as fast as we want to, but it's a start. Ik as well that in the past the more time they had between expansions the better they were, for both the players and the devs. I don't like the drip feed either bc by the time the next week comes around, I've already forgotten what's happened, but if you want, you can wait until you can play all the weekly missions at once. That's what I'm thinking about doin. But all this stress isn't gonna help... neither for you, us, or bungie. We got a new team, so we should at least give them a chance.

2 通の返信The whole idea of seasons is: “You have to play no matter what because if you wont you spent your money for nothing”. Stupid FOMO thing.

25 通の返信Phyromancerにより編集済み: 9/10/2021 10:59:39 PMNumbers shows. When D1 ended, there are about 5 million regular players. Now, it's hovering above 1 million on a seasonal drop, then it goes down after a month. Whoever is left behind are the ones who got pulled into running the hamster wheel. They probably like running around a giant wheel. It's an empty shell. 😂😂😂 Logic!

1 返信Let’s be honest. Seasons aren’t the best and 20 dollar expansions all were pretty bad too.
-
Loneにより編集済み: 9/10/2021 10:54:17 PMThe Seasonal activities are really crushing my enjoyment. It is practically the same recycled Content with a bit of story. I played 1 Override last Season and I was already bored. I didn´t even finish Astral Alignment and already knew it would be a drag. Collect Motes or Balls every Season is boring as hell.

1 返信I agree. I don't understand how people prefer time gated quests and doing the same thing constantly over and over. But most of these kids don't play real mmos and know how great studios do things.
-
GRAVELにより編集済み: 9/11/2021 2:47:26 PMI understand your point. I'm not sure your timing is great though. I don't care for all the time gating but we are in the midst of a strong seasonal cycle. How can Bungie win? I'm on rank sixty range of my seasons' pass. I've played a fair amount of late. Everytime I see someone plus 300 levels... I just cringe and feel so bad for that person Destiny is clearly all some people do. I don't want destiny designed for that person. I want destiny designed for 'me', the middle of all extremes.

I agree with a lot of your points, but I can’t help but prefer the seasonal model over smaller DLCs (RoI, CoO, Warmind, etc). I feel that they do a better job at telling the story and feel about the same in regards to content.
-
1 返信Content drought is actually worse now. For example this season will consist of running 1 story mission a week for me. And maybe a few master raids/GMs when they finally come out. But I’m already 1330 and it’s just bounty farm/do one story mission. There has never been less content for hardcore players than the seasonal model.

I skipped 4 seasons and came back just fine I think the word your all looking for is lazy you want "expansions" welp 3 weeks in I've beat it and your back to crying seasons keep people playing go play fortnite
