Titan supers are the weakest they have ever been

Here's a penny for your time. Mayhem is always a wonderful indicator for this. You can tell just by playing which is the most played class but it also allows you to directly pitch supers against another in a live fire exercise. Hunters right now are the top class due to Golden Gun, Blade Barrage and especially Squall and Silence with its "cast it and just go somewhere else" utility. Warlocks are close second with Nova Bomb maintaining it's position as an excellent shut-down super that just dumps damage over whatever it hits no matter how tanky and the Dawnblade being an attack helicoper with extreme airborne maneuverability and heat seeking projectiles. But I think Titans have very little going for them. First of all, Thundercrash. Yeah, it does damage. But not enough. Bungie basically admitted to this when they made the Cuirass of the Falling Star which is nothing but a damage buff. You could argue it's a long range shut down super like Nova Bomb but NB is better because it doesn't launch the Warlock into danger. And the flying and distance traveling is more of a nerf than anything else because you don't get any hyper armor or armor buff during it which means if you want to utilize it to 100% you are basically easy pickings for a golden gunner, blade barrage, nova bomb or squall and silence (something Bungie *also* sort of admitted due to the armor increase from CotFS). Yeah you can use it short range of course but then I gotta say: Why not bring back the original Fist of Havoc then? That was a short range, insta-cast, one-and-done shut down super that worked, Thundercrash if used for short ranges is a weaker version of that. Generally if you play Striker Fists of Havoc is a way better choice than Thundercrash but it still lacks behind other roaming supers in some way or another and the prolonged duration from Trample is alo long gone. Sunbreakers are pathetically weak, while you can make use of the Burning Maul you are not mobile enough to justify lack the low armor during that super. It's also strictly ground-bound and has very little utility for airborne or elevated targets, with the only option for that being the fire tornado. When you go for the Hammer of Sol supers you get a projectile super that isn't strong enough to one-shot some other supers, like an arcstrider (because they sure get armor) unless it's a perfect hit while they can spam their poledancer attacks and the game drags them towards the sunbreaker who is then quickly dismantled through what little armor he gets. You sometimes see Sentinels but they are basically negligible. The throwing shield is nice and the rebound can be useful in tight spaces but other than that they get just steamrolled by most other supers, even other titan supers. And the bubble is most useful in 3v3s with some use in 6v6s and for PvE it recently has been nerfed so people just go back to well of radiance which now once again does the bubble but better. Generally, the greatest advantage Sentinels have is actually the suppressor grenade and this one thing alone is more useful and fun than all the super variants Sentinel has. And you never see Behemoths anymore because they are now slow, clunky, weak and basically a gimmick super that cannot compete with whatever the other supers throw at it. There's probably more I could describe if I were to put the time in, but ey here you go. Bottom line is that whatever a titan super is supposed to do hunters and warlocks have one that does it better. Right now titan supers have no niche to fill.

  • Mayhem has always favored the Shutdown Supers, except in the days of D1 where me and my old fireteam would just spam Bubbles and emote all match, sometimes getting the enemy team to join us. You will find no balance in Mayhem.

My Opinion: - Fists of Havoc is trash especially Top Tree - Thundercrash is only good with Falling Star - Hammer of Sol is pretty damn good except Top Tree - Burning Maul is worst super in the game - Sentinel Shield… decent but needs a buff, specifically the blocking part - Ward of Dawn needs to be stronger - Banner Shield… needs to block more

    • Uhhhhhhhhh... Thundercrash is the best shutdown super in the game. Bottom Hammers is the best roamer in the game. The only super there that's at all weak is Maul. Sorry, but you're sitting on a throne of lies.

    • Thundercrash remains one of the most powerful supers in the game and is the best of the shut down supers, maybe second to squall. The neutral game is absolutely insane as well. If you think Thundercrash is bad you just don’t know how to fly in the super. Hammers is also one of the most underrated and slept on supers in the game. Any super that goes against hammers, is losing, PERIOD. Golden gun is literally the only exception out of all the other roaming supers. Behemoth is a shell of its former self, but you’re crazy if you think it’s not usable. The new buff to the melee has brought it up in lethality and literally the only thing holding it back is the dmg resistance. I will admit the neutral game of behemoth is far better than the super, but it’s still really good. Sentinel is in a weird spot. It goes from having hands down the worst hit detection in the game to wiping entire teams with one shield throw. Fixing the hit detection would make the super absolutely op. And bubble is only really good if the enemy team is really bad. Sentinel definitely needs a buff.

      • Disagree. Hunter supers are the worst. Blade barrage is at it’s all time low since they killed the tracking for it in PvP. If you got killed by it, that was a miracle for that Hunter. Silence and Squall guarantees at least 1 kill upon activation depending on how many people are there, but how is that any different from a detonating panic super? Oh right, it’s such a slow cast we can get picked before we cast the storm which is the real part of the super and it’s so slow, loud, and easy to see that if you get caught up in it after the cast that’s on you. We actually have to aim golden gun and shadow shot unlike Titan slams and Slowva bombs. Arcstrider is just pitiful and it always has been. Spectral Blades just got the fattest nerf making it now one of the least used Hunter supers. Oh and you say Thundercrash doesn’t deal enough damage? It’s a 1 shot explosion that has the capacity for better tracking than any rocket because you’re controlling it and a bigger blast radius than any rocket as well. What more do you want from it? Don’t wanna get 1 shotted by a golden gun during your super? Don’t use it with a golden gun active on the field. Most of your issues come exclusively from mayhem.

        • Titan Sunbreaker here. Bottom tree Siegebreaker with Phoenix Cradle, in my opinion, is a thousand times better than the other two. Don’t get me wrong, in PvP, you can still get utterly murdered if you time it wrong but, when it’s right, it’s beautiful to watch the game world burn around you. PvE, I used to be a dedicated Code of the Protector (top tree Sentinel). While still very useful, I find myself leaning more and more on Siegebreaker with PC. PvP, find yourself a common choke point for the map. Be aware of your surroundings. Pop your super before the enemy team reaches you. Here’s the trick. Don’t move. Stay in your sunspot and crouch to blip you off the radar. Not that it gives you a health or shield buff but, sooooo many players love to rush in this game. A lot will say that the game is designed that way but it’s far from the truth. Passive gameplay can be just as deadly when done right, especially in Control and when the enemy team move as one. Sunspots everywhere, your abilities regen rather quickly and a good chunk of the enemy team can’t help themselves but to rush you. Throw a hammer and let them burn. The rest will follow suit.

          • -Strikers can do some dumb -blam!- in the right hands -Bottom tree Sunbreaker (I think? I usually run void Titan so idk) is absolutely nutty and very difficult to counter -Imo bottom tree void isn’t as bad as people say it is, pair it with Doom Fangs and the super can be a force to be reckoned with (though hit registration does probably need to be looked at), also top tree is pretty strong in a lot of situations -Personally I think Behemoth is the weakest of the three Stasis supers, however it still has a lot of potential overall Tl;Dr Titan supers are fine in PvP, and all classes are pretty balanced overall (doesn’t mean there isn’t an outlier or two per class)

Void titan needs a several revamp, i think they will right? I played yesterday before the daily reset to try the new(to me) lost sector helmet. It was all void, and master level, first i went with the warlock nova bomb, I breeze through it, grenades, nova bomb, melee, i completed on my first run. Hunter i used void as well, it was a little harder but i managed to get it on my 2nd run. With the titan void, i tried 10 times, failed miserably ( i might be a bad titan? I might i will not fight that), but i never felt so weak on destiny for so long, grenades doesn't do sh * t even though it had a 50% dmg increased, halved that minotaurs to below 50% health, i was ok with the super i finish it, yeah right...i got destroyed....as i said i might be bad with void titan once I barely used, but this subclass is awful, i know it's not supposed to be a DPS subclass, but it could be a little better right?
