It's not very rewarding either since you need seasonal currency to open the chest with seasonal gear and the free chest typically rewards blues.
It's faster and easier to farm umbrals from ritual activities, as you can earn currency and umbrals at the same time and them focus them. Its 150 currency for focused weapon or armor while the alignment chest costs about the same and doesn't award currency.

The point Im making is you can farm umbrals and get the same gear, but faster. It takes 15-20 minutes for 1 clear and you get 2 chest, but only 1 offers seasonal gear for 100 currency. Vs farming umbrals and focusing them. Just a general seasonal focus costs legendary shards and just weapons or armor cost 150 seasonal currency. Also you can farm umbrals and earn currency at the same time, were as astral allinement doesn't award currency.
