Same song, different dance... If you people would stop hoarding everything, it wouldn't be an issue. If it was increased, it would take you a week to be right back here crying some more. Since you are obviously too daft to get it, let me spell it out... > Armor set A hasn't been used for a full season. Light 200 below. DELETE > Weapon A has 7 copies. Barely any difference in roll. Varying levels. DELETE LOWEST AND LEAST USED. KEEP 1. > Tokens and junk/lore items. DELETE AND TURN IN. > Ships and ghosts. DELETE. YOU'RE STUPID IF YOU KEEP THESE IN THE VAULT. There. Rinse repeat for variant B, C, etc. Man, that was hard to comprehend wasn't it?

 • While I generally agree that most players should start mass deleting items as they are junk, there is a good portion of players that still have a vault issue because Destiny does not have good Collections and Consumables systems. For Collections, there should be a way to re-collect weapons from Forsaken content and onward. I know for myself, I will keep a weapon of every archetype for PVP and a weapon of every element for PVE; I do this to ensure I have good PVP weapons if the meta changes and that I have weapons for GM Nightfalls with the Seasonal changes for Champion mods and just having weapons for elemental shields with the changing meta. This alone requires having 100+ additional weapons that may not be immediately needed, but will be useful in future seasons. For example, I'm not getting rid of my god-roll Interference VI GL just because it is not currently meta. Also for Collections, Exotic armor needs a bit of an overhaul. For similar reasons to weapons, I like to keep one of every exotic with good rolls in case it becomes the meta. This may sound silly, but don't forget that Aeons went from one of the worst to one of the best Exotics for GM Nightfalls, so I'm really glad I kept those. This adds 96 items. For Consumables, we have a few issues, firstly, materials should not have a cap, or at least the cap should be much higher than 999 or 9999. About 50 items in my Vault could be eliminated simply by having a higher cap. Secondly, given the current system for Ascendant Shards, many players stock up on Shards by putting Exotic items into the Vault that are fully Masterworked, I've currently got about 40+ of these items, but some people certainly have more. While I don't think the cap for this item should be completely removed, I do think consolidating this into a single stack of 50 (while removing the ability to store them in your Postmaster) would remove some of the FOMO associated with hoarding Ascendant Shards and eliminate the need to do this (in addition to not needing to worry as much about the Postmaster filling up). These items alone take up over half of my vault space, and I sympathize with people that have issues with their vault. My point generally is that the issue is not resolved by increasing Vault Space, but rather updating other systems in the game. However, with that said, it is a gross over-simplification to suggest that everyone having issues with Vault Space are simply hoarding hundreds of ships and duplicate weapons.

 • See, I get it, but it's still hoarding behavior. Why follow the meta? Because a youtuber decided to change it? Because suddenly the game ends if you don't? I get preparedness, but every exotic for every roll is sheer overkill. Same with weapons, you don't need every weapon in the game... I have gotten along just fine playing the way I want without following metas. Personally, I try to do the opposite since it's more of a challenge and fun...

 •
Why follow the meta?
Because when you want to be the best, you use the best weapons. It's not following what youtubers and streamers say, it's reading the TWAB and keeping up with the sandbox. For PVP, the sandbox changes periodically over time where certain weapons become the best of class overnight. For PVE, the same thing occurs, we've cycled through most weapons being a part of optimal DPS as an example. Does the game end if I'm not using the most optimal weapons? No. But when I try to play the hardest content in the game starting Day 1, I want to have the best advantage possible (more on that later).
every exotic for every roll is sheer overkill
Debatable. While you are able to get Exotic armor from Collections, it is with a stat roll of less than 50. If I have an exotic with good rolls that's 65+, it puts me way ahead for any builds that use that exotic. This is probably the most "hoardish" part of my vault.
you don't need every weapon in the game...
Not every weapon, every elemental type of every weapon type. The reason for this is simple, with a changing PVE meta season over season, I want to be able to have weapons that perform in endgame content such as Nightfalls. That means having 4 weapons of each type minimum (kinetic, arc, solar, void). While having these weapons is not required for most gameplay, it definitely helps when playing lots of endgame content.
I have gotten along just fine playing the way I want without following metas. Personally, I try to do the opposite since it's more of a challenge and fun...
This comes to the root of the problem... you don't play endgame content. You don't play raids, you barely play dungeons, and you only seem to play crucible casually. I'm not saying this as a "git gud kid", but rather to say you are coming from a position that doesn't understand wanting to have the most optimized loadouts. I'm the kind of player that likes playing raids on Day 1 for example, and if you are running any generic loadout, you will get absolutely crushed. If the meta shifts in Witch Queen changes to Snipers and Linear Fusions being top tier for DPS, I've got enough of an arsenal that I can be completely prepared on the first day of the raid. For players like me that like to "compete", we like having options. Again, I'm not saying we need more vault spaces, because I think that's actually counterproductive, but I am saying there should be a change to Collections and Consumables.

 • Sure you don't need every weapon but destiny is a collection game so the ability to hold every gun you ever liked and will like should be available.
