Why is the only way to get Grandmaster ready through the bonus power levels?
I am at 1338 power.
All of my gear is 1320.
In order to raise my power up further, I need to just get XP. Just any XP.
So gear alone doesn't bring you close to the Grandmaster (or Master raid) level.
Now I need to mindlessly grind bounties and run old content until I am bored to death and raise that power level up once or twice after an entire week.
I need 700K. I just ran a gambit match and one strike. I got 25K after both of those. I NEED 700k!
Is this a joke?
This is what the game has turned into now? Gear doesn't get you to max level, or near max level? Now we have to mindlessly grind XP for hours and hours and raise this bonus power level in order to do the end game content?
What the hell happened?
This doesn't make me grind more. That is as boring as this boring ass game gets. This makes me quit and play other games.

4 通の返信The mode exists for those people who do grind incessantly, as a reward for their doggedness. If that grind isn’t your thing, then neither are GMs.

7 通の返信Grandmasters are not out right away. It takes 4 or 5 weeks for them to come out each season. That's the timeline you have to see what the requirements are and the timeline you have to get ready.

Bungie doesn't have any way of restricting access to content based on skill level. Because they don't have any reliable way of determining how "good" you are in PVE content. So they restrict it based on how much TIME you've invested in the game, since the more time you play the more likely you are to be good. Don't get me wrong. Its a BLUNT instrument...and not a very good indicator of skill. But I can see the predicament from Bungie's point of view.

Grandmaster Nightfalls have the Contest modifier on, which caps everyone's level at 1335 (in the context of this season). Given that you also [i]need[/i] to be 1335 to enter the activity, the minimum level is also the maximum. There is no benefit to being 1360 in a Grandmaster because it won't do anything for you. You were Grandmaster ready 3 levels ago. For Master VoG, and any future Master Raids/Dungeons, players seem to have forgotten the concept of being underlevelled. Hard Mode VoG was 2 levels above the cap, back in the day. Hard Mode Crota was the same and Skolas was 1 level above. In that era, it wasn't even possible to be at level for those activities when they were the latest release. If you can do a Nightfall at Master or GM while underlevelled, then you can do Master VoG all the same.

They need to retain the people with excessive time somehow....... But hey if there's people salivating at the mouth for an Adept weapon that literally is only different by name.....who am I to judge. Just saying. You can do Master / Legend for less of a headache and less time being wasted. For the same ends.

5 通の返信I hate that you have to grind season pass levels to do the GM. I think pinnacle power should be the cap and you can achieve this either through gear, season pass or a mix of both. Then, just use contest mode to drop your guardian to whatever light Bungie wants us running the GM. It is not skilful grinding bounties.

A) Like others have said. It locks you 25 below, so anything over that doesn't matter. B) Grandmaster strikes are endgame content. They're meant for players that hit max power + 20 from the artifact 6 weeks ago. C) Seasonal max power - without the artifact bonus - is usually enough for the majority of content in the game. The artifact bonus is meant to give you an artificial boost so you can gain access to activities faster than you could with pinnacle awards alone. So if anything, it's worked exactly as intended.

4 通の返信Its literally the easiest thing on the planet. Go into PVP, Grab PVP bounties Go into Strikes, Grab Vanguard bounties Always grab Gun Smith bounties I'm 1342 just literally playing the game.
