My KD averages about 0.6; my ELO averages about 900. That’s with me trying hard and caring about my stats (but not at the expense of my teammate's welfare).
With Bungie’s blend of Lobby-balancing and CBMM, I am consistently put on teams with far superior players instead of being matched with people of my skill level.
When we win, it’s commonly because one player put the whole team on his back and basically carried us.
First of all-- THAT player, who did all the work, is probably pretty “ticked…” And rightfully so. The situation they were put in wasn’t right nor fair.
Secondly, most of us don’t want to win that way— quickly going to orbit, in total embarrassment, to try to hide our KDA from the match. And feeling ashamed and guilty. Feeling as useful as a Mod Component.
ON THE AVERAGE, WE SHOULD BE MATCHED WITH PLAYERS OF SIMILAR SKILL.
I play solo because I’m old, have slowed reflexes and have nerve damage to both hands. I play solo because I don’t want to be “that guy” that brings a team down. Why should other solo players be forced to carry me, Bungie??
EDIT: I should have mentioned in the original post that I feel that Bungie has done a fantastic job in most other areas. And, more importantly, I should have mentioned how generous this player base is. On a regular basis, they give freely with no thought of return. These are mostly good people Bungie. Don’t lose them.

3 通の返信Bungo should just make PvP optional. Im 2.3KD, but the biggest problem I have with the game that made me basically stop playing it for MP fun was that the better I got, the more I had to face people across oceans… which means huge latency differences. Ive gotten stomped by better players, that much is normal. Tho losing against a guy that runs into a wall and then suddenly Im dead and the game says the guy that ran into a wall «melee-killed» me. Sometimes u even face people that cant be killed due to the latency difference + their lag. Btw, CBMM isnt a thing. Its Lobbybased SBMM that doesnt work as it should. If it was CBMM, at least 2/5 matches should be with EU players for me, but nah. I play with EU 1/15 matches or less. The MM finda the «fastest» way to connect people together, then it tries to balance within their own terms. If u disagree with me, know that steam charts shows that in 2 months after the region lock. The PC playerbase went from 300k avg to 50k avg. Could be many other reasons too, but its too perfect for that.

4 通の返信As a solo player with 1.80kd I recommend playing the way that's most comfortable to you instead of forcing meta or anything else you aren't naturally comfortable with then becoming more aware of using cover and learning what fights to reposition on. The "lane near cover" rule is very good for staying alive longer.

I do hate having to carry every game I play but its not that bad, sure I wish I had players on my team doing the carry for once or at least not feeding ultimate charge to the enemy majority of the time but it is what it is.
-
8 通の返信They definitely do not. If you’re a good pvp player and play solo, you’re screwed even harder. How is it that Bungie expects a good solo player to carry 3-4 zombies per match? Even dropping 40+ defeats isn’t enough when you have the bottom 3 players totaling 12 kills with 50 deaths.

3 通の返信At this point I usually just set myself to defending one of our points with my trusty Bastion and Depending on the map Eternal Blazon/gnawing hunger/Ikelos smg. Eventually the HC/shotgun apes overtake me but not before I get them salty enough to bag me.

1 返信I agree with the general idea of sbmm BUT D2 just doesnt have the playerbase (for pvp) to make it an enjoyable experience. People who are better at pvp have queue times of 10-20 minutes for quickplay with sbmm. We had it back in late year 2 i think it was? I remember walking the dog during queue times when sbmm was a thing lol.

41 通の返信Codykinsにより編集済み: 7/22/2021 10:25:06 AMI average a 2.51 Overall KD (3.33 KAD-- 4.01 this Season), sitting at about 113,000+ kills in PvP. I also play completely solo, and haven't added more than 3 people to my friends list since my migration from Xbox to PC well over a year ago. I still feel your pain, on both sides of the spectrum. Truth be told, I'm probably amongst the oldest dated members still around on this forum, and I rarely chime in to post, due to the toxicity and the nature of how people have become nowadays. Although Bungie has fallen so low, they've given me a lot of memories, which is why I continue to stick around until the ship eventually sinks. I'm strictly anti-meta, and main scout rifles in PvP, one of the least-used weapon types nowadays, and play a mix of bottom tree dawnblade and Nova Warp-- it makes some games much more difficult than others-- because they require an extremely passive, long-range play-style due to most of Destiny 2's maps being very small and designed for 4v4 in mind when the game first shipped, which is a play-style most of the player base doesn't have the patience for, and they're easily beat out by most other weapons because their TTK is a lot less manageable, and will most-of-the-time lose if somebody shoots you first, due to their stagger rate. I say this all in the sense that, while I'm in the Top 0.3-0.4% in Overall PvP, I usually end up against literal Destiny Gods atleast half of my matches, and carrying my team the other half, and it's not a good feeling regardless. Feels like the game/match becomes a chore, at times, in both aspects-- but in all honesty, I still prefer this over SBMM-- atleast in Quickplay only, because I just want to play Quickplay to have fun, not feel like I'm in a pool of sweat every game I drop into. I used to be a relatively good/decent Trials player back in D1, going flawless every other week, and went flawless quite a few times during Trials of the Nine when cheating was barely around, due to the game not being F2P, and a banned account would mean having to pay another 60$ + DLC to start anew-- I stepped foot into Trials of Osiris when it came back to Destiny 2 (after migrating from Xbox -> PC), and it's an absolute cesspool of cheating and paid carries, so I stepped away from that after the constant losses wasting my time. All I can say is, Destiny is in desperate need of help-- both content-wise, balance, and PvP-wise, and it sucks running into these sweats that make the game a lifestyle, rather than a fun hobby to kill time, but don't let it discourage you. Keep your head up bud, and keep practicing hard. If you ever want someone to play with, you're more than welcome to add me, though I'm not sure if you're on console or PC. The main reason I've gone so long without adding anyone, is while the PC is so much more stable and beautiful graphic and framerate-wise, the PC Playerbase, seems to be an absolute sludge pit of arrogance / toxicity compared to the world of people I used to meet and play with on Xbox One. Thanks for reading and whatnot, Play hard, but try to have fun, friend. ☺

I agree. That kind of balancing sucks. It's like putting good players with what ends up essentially being fodder, no offense, to balance it out. It might be fun at first for the better player but they rarely ever get put into fun games. In fact, I believe that an average 1.0 player is probably put into a match about 50% of the time against enemies with fodder and the other 50% as fodder for even better players. That's just unfun.

2 通の返信Hello, i was also a solo pvper and I had a 1.2 I’d using hand cannons and such. I don’t have a problem with most of the match making.

1 返信There is a SBMM playlist known as survival. When every playlist was SBMM finding a match took me 5-10 min per match.

7 通の返信This is what happens when everybody complains about SBMM and not being able to steamroll every game. SBMM was in place around a year ago and the community went ape shit which i still don't get to this day, don't you want competitive matches in PvP? Actually mind-boggles me.

The sbmm is abysmal, I’m diamond elo for ranked only like 2200, only place where I actually care to try hard. I was playing freelance ranked the other night and consistently either my team had me with two silver/ low golds against slightly lower diamonds or the other way around and in a game mode like that no amount of skill can over come silvers throwing lives stomps aren’t fun to me on either end of it. I had one game against a 2800 elo titan he was cracked but he had a plat and a bronze so me and two plats won even though none of us were in that guy’s league. I agree a single player carrying is miserable for all parties involved. Feels like a player population problem more than anything else.

1 返信As a strictly solo player, it feels fixed. I've had games where it's put the 2 x3s or 3 x2s on the same team. Gambit is as bad, 2 x2s Vs 3 solos. Luckily most new gen players don't suck but there's still tonnes of landslides Played gambit yesterday, 4v4, my team like me all new accs with 1 resilience, other team had 2 conquerers + 2 unbrokens. We literally couldn't bank motes bcoz everything 1 hit us, n invaders could 1 tap you bcoz the light difference was like 250. We lost with 0 motes banked. Great introduction to the game.

The whole situation is a catch-22 IMO. They’ll be some good, they’ll be some bad. There is no way to objectivity decide what outweighs what. Considering this, we shouldn’t listen to the super sweats, but we also shouldn’t listen to the super casuals. I get annoyed when devs (in any game) make decisions based on a small percentage of high and low end players when they may not have a grip on the majority of the community. We should treat it like a bell curve and try and base things off of the average majority.
-
1 返信We need SBMM back, if the sweats complain just ignore them, it's the casual's turn to suggest stuff.

4 通の返信
I am consistently put on teams with far superior players instead of being matched with people of my skill level.
The majority of your games are vs gold or silver elo players. ANYONE can get to that point, the skill gap in destiny is absolutely tiny. If you care about the scoreboard it on you to play with that in mind.
ON THE AVERAGE, WE SHOULD BE MATCHED WITH PLAYERS OF SIMILAR SKILL.
Not in casual modes you shouldn't. You want that type of mm? Comp is that way ->

2 通の返信I don’t think they value much of anything anymore unless pressed. With BF2042 and Halo Infinite around the corner I’m guessing they will come up with something. Maybe a new PvP map for every couple hundred days they didn’t add one? That’s probably a stretch.

1 返信dawheatにより編集済み: 7/23/2021 12:17:59 AMI feel you - I've basically stopped solo queuing PvP b/c it's just too frustrating to be on either side of the fence. So I mostly LFG fireteams or play with people I've added as friends via LFG in the past - I can always get a group going and it's a way better experience than soloing. Yes it ends up with mostly us stomping opponents, but it's easy to do using the built-in Xbox LFG feature and it spares me a ton of pain. There aren't any good options with the player base as small as it is - I don't want lagging opponents and I don't want to have to carry 5 scrubs who seem to mindlessly get slaughtered against even average opponents. A mix of SBMM and CBMM would be ideal with a healthy player base but at this point, I think we're just riding out the end of the game. So LFG up and enjoy the sunset.

You act like they value players in general. Solos are the least valuable, yes. But to Bungie all we are is Dollar signs and an excuse. "Look we have them playing this long" not for the fun replayability of D1 but because you handed us fetch quests that take literally forever. In more simple terms we have no Value outside of monetization. Solos or Groups. To Bungie we are all worthless.
