Legendary Grinding Time Cap/ Bad Luck Protection

We need a cap to how long we can pursue a weapon without getting the roll we want. It does not feel good to pursue a weapon for 500 hours of play- or more- with no end in sight. It makes you question, “am I even making progress towards what I am pursuing?” Destiny should be a hobby, not a job; Destiny should be willing to let its players go. With this in mind, there is an efficient solution. We already have Weapon Materials, and we also have a Gunsmith. One additional tracker on Legendary weapons counting up materials every time you dismantle that gun, combined with the ability to track those materials in Collections, is a start. Add the ability to visit the Gunsmith to redeem those specific materials for more and more specific rolls scaling with the materials you spent, up to buying the god roll if you’ve somehow dismantled a boatload of that gun, would be a perfect way to cap time spent. After all, if you’ve already put in the time to grind 300+ of a weapon to no success, it should be rewarded. This would add a “light at the end of the tunnel,” a hope to pursue in light of poor luck. The cost of using materials could scale with difficulty as well; Trials weapons that barely appear shouldn’t be near as hard to hit cap for as say, Override weapons that you can drown in. Whole systems and quests could be built around this. Forge your perfect gun, earn it through enough time! That is a mighty feeling of accomplishment.
