erm..... someone clearly never used Anarchy+Mountaintop combo which was at the time one of the best dps combos around. Anarchy has been relevant since day 1 and got more relevant as stronger combos became a thing. OP is right, it prevents power creep, it means you have meaning in what to choose as your exotic.

  • Anarchy+mountaintop was powerful because of mountaintop, especially back well lunas auto reloaded your weapons. It was always only powerful because of *insert legendary special weapon here*. It's a unique weapon that does little on it's own but compensates towards other weapons. It gives up burst dps for fire and forget continuous damage. That doesn't make it OP, it just makes it good and unique. The only other weapon that does something like that is witherhoard, except it's worse since it's a special weapon. How much you want to bet that's going to be on the next chopping block?

How much you want to bet that's going to be on the next chopping block?[/quote] Except if you actually did some research you would know that Witherhoard + any RL or Linear combo marginally out dps's Anarchy with any Anarchy + Special weapon combo (this excludes double slug as this is a bug and its not very friendly to solo play) btw this was pre Beyond light and pre Linear and RL buffs. Ehroar has a video on this back when Mountaintop was still viable even after the nerf to it [spoiler]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOt8KsamZNA[/spoiler]nothing has really changed since then apart from the double slug combo and Linear and RL buffs being introduced and Mountaintop getting chopped. The reason Witherhoard wont get the chopping block is simply down to how Witherhoard functions in comparison to Anarchy (which many ignore) Both function relatively the same in providing "fire and forget tick damage" but witherhoard "needs" a blight on the ground while Anarchy you can double stick it with mines [b]and have 100% tick damage apply every time[/b], in a lot of boss fights, they move around rendering the blight on the floor "almost" worthless in many encounters and depending on the boss they simply float to high above the ground for it to function. Witherhoard can be very inconsistent in getting that "sustained dps" from double blights (one on the target, one on the ground) Thats why Anarchy was the go to choose even when Witherhoard got added last year, it still provided a much easier method of consistent tick damage to basically every boss in the game. But Anarchy in almots every use case, many would sit on Anarchy till a boss fight. Witherhoard if you take the time to use it in a lot of content you begin to realise you find yourself using Witherhoard for more than just "boss damage" especially for me anyway. Witherhoard simply forces a playstyle that Bungie are trying to push with weapon types and weapon slots. Anarchy doesnt. hence the nerfs.
