So I came back to Destiny 2 a week into season of the splicer after a substantial break from the game (due to lack of content at the time). So far I find myself completely avoiding pvp in this game after playing Iron Banner for the first time in months. The amount of cheaters in this game is by far the worst I have seen in any pvp game I have played in the last 20 years of competitive gaming.
The fact that this has been a problem since Destiny 2 went free to play for all pvp content and has yet to be resolved is a joke and needs to be recognized as the laziest and most pathetic effort from a development team as big as Bungie. It's the out right lack of a decent anti cheat program mixed with the fact that F2P players have full access to pvp...
I played over 200 matches of Iron Banner over 3 characters and I lost count of the amount of reports I submitted (I dont report players easily, only when it is blatantly obvious, as everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt). As I said I have 20 years of experience in competitive games and I have never seen cheaters like this. They dont even try to hide it.
Cheaters and "lag switchers" (network manipulators) are the reason I haven't attempted trials since year 2... 3 years down the track and its worse now then it has ever been. The fact that just to get into an Iron Banner match takes upwards of 5 minutes, sometimes a lot more and when I do find a game it's with the exact same players I played the last 10 matches with even if the teams are completely one sided and matches called early. It shows a complete lack of popularity for pvp in this game. It doesn't even matter what time of the day or night I play.
I am extremely disappointed in Bungie for letting this go on and doing absolutely nothing about it in 5 years. After saying all this about cheaters, we still have stasis and a completely unbalanced sandbox to deal with. F for effort Bungie, A+ for complete lack of common sense when developing your own game.
Sorry for the rant but I feel this needs to be said and addressed or this game will not last and I don't want to see this game die completely as I do enjoy playing it but pvp is such a big part of this game and something needs to be done.
Hello. Bungie takes reports of suspected cheating very seriously. If you suspect someone is cheating, the best course of action is to use the in-game report tool and report the suspected player. Additionally, Bungie has also provided a report tool online which can be accessed with the following link: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Troubleshoot?oid=13967#contact
Please be sure to read through all of Bungie’s reporting guidelines before issuing a report.
Iron banner is the most unlikely place for cheaters to sit. They mostly do comp and trials. Your recent matches don’t even show any suspect players as many of the top players have very good records and don’t look suspicious. Just because you aren’t that good at pvp doesn’t mean someone is automatically cheating
