We are approaching the weekend here in the US where we tend to blow a lot of money literally up in smoke. For many of us it's tradition to have parties and stay up later to watch fireworks, whether large displays done by local municipalities, or our own shows in our backyards.
Most don't seem to know why we do it anymore, but just revel in the extended time off of work, and enjoy the barbecues, picnics, or vacations around this holiday.
My question is, for those of you not from the US.
Do you have any holidays where you celebrate with fireworks? I know that New Years Eve is a big one everywhere it seems, but I don't know about any other holidays where this is the common thing to do.

1 返信Here in Germany, for private persons it is only allowed to use Fireworks of the F2 Class on December 31st and January 1st. Any other day, it is forbidden by law to light Fireworks. F2 Class is the Class that any private person aged 18 or above can buy and use - your regular fireworks. There's also F1, small works for people aged 12 and above. F3 can only be used by people with a special license. F4 can only be used by specifically instructed Pyrotechnicians. If you want to use Fireworks outside the days mentioned above, you need special allowance from the City. The only other days where you see Fireworks are either some special event, or on German Unity Day in Berlin.

2 通の返信I think there's New Year's and one other day when fireworks are legal here. But I really want to buy one of those missile boxes that just shoot out 'splosives for a good time in a pattern.

2 通の返信My son's mother is from Nederlands (Rotterdam specifically) where they do fireworks for something called Queen's Day. I've never experienced it myself as I only visit there during the winter months to save money on the plane ticket(s). I recall her taking my son to see fireworks one year he was there for the summer, but I'm not sure it's something they do at home like here in the states.

LahDsaiにより編集済み: 7/1/2021 4:03:32 AMVarious Lunar New Years (Chinese here). People set off firecrackers at midnight on the first day then randomly throughout the week. Middle of the day, middle of the night, doesn't matter. A lot of temples set off fireworks on the various gods' birthdays. And then they set off fireworks for Double Ten, which celebrates the beginning of the rebellion against the Qing dynasty, ultimately resulting in the creation of the ROC. OH, also, there's the Yanshui Beehive Fireworks Festival where you stand around the fireworks as they go off around you. Lots of fireworks here.

4 通の返信Cultmeisterにより編集済み: 6/30/2021 1:57:17 PMWe have Guy Fawkes Night here in the uk, in November; to commemorate the failure of The Gunpowder Plot, which people may know of from the film/graphic novel V for Vendetta. Bonfires and fireworks are traditional, as well as the burning of effigies of Guy Fawkes himself (the mastermind behind it). Other than that and New Year not really any national ones. People often set off fireworks for Diwali, the Hindu holiday, and there are always fireworks going off around me in the spring for the various colleges’ end-of-year balls (I live near/amongst Cambridge University)

Here in MT we get literally any type of firework you can dream of from Native American reservations. For various economic and legal reasons we're not allowed to discuss here, they have very loose regs on what you fan buy. As far as my favorite type of firework, I admit I'm a sucker for a good fountain or the massive artillery shells. Roman Candle fights are fun, but not really safe..:
Sorry, all out of salt.
In fact, a few years back my crazy brother somehow managed to buy about 50 cakes, 50 pinwheels, and 50 fountains in bulk, rented a uhaul, and called up my folks the night before to tell them that he was going to store it all on the second floor of their garage. So for the past few years, a potential mushroom cloud has been sitting there. But I love fireworks and blowing shit up. I just wish I didn't have to go out of state to get decent ones. (My state has very stringent fireworks laws.) EDIT: I hope this doesn't count as veering into politics, but it saddens me to see fellow Americans not realizing not good we have it. If they did, maybe they'd remember the sacrifices made so we could have this life. We aren't perfect, but damn...it couoe be so much worse.
ANYONE can respond to this part; What types of fireworks are your favorites?
Parachute flares, artillery simulators, WP & thermite grenades, ANFO, cratering charges...the list goes on & on. In the Army, I always scheduled some form of demolition training around the 4th.
