The difference is that in competitive sports you can’t talk trash and then just run away like a little -blam!-. In the real world when you talk trash there are consequences and you have to do it as yourself. You can’t be anonymous in competitive sports in real life. Of course if you would’ve stopped for two seconds and thought before making a response you probably would’ve come to these conclusions but oh well I don’t mind Pointing out the obvious.

waterpolo1により編集済み: 5/20/2021 8:39:24 AMI've been recording sporting events professionally for 14 years. Every one from Kobe to Williams talk major shit during their games. You know what the consequences are? Nothing. Both teams move on after the game. This even happens in games of monopoly where you're couple of inches away form one another. Whatever you're talking about anonymity is irrelevant on the topic of trash talking in competitive sport. Period. Now if we're talking about forums like this, it's a different story. Since acting tough is only normal during a game. Or right before a big match, not in random conversations.

Wait no that's not true. We would get in trouble on the field if we were taunting the other team too much, and nobody trash talks death threats on a person, or whines to the other team after losing. That's football wrestling and soccer.
whines to the other team after losing.
100%.
We would get in trouble on the field if we were taunting the other team too much, and nobody trash talks death threats on a person
While those rules do exist, they are enforced as much as TOS is online. From my own experience in playing soccer, waterpolo and track there were no penalties dealt for trash talking. In fact it was always the person who threw a punch/kick in response that got kicked out for the match or suspended for the season. This has also been true for my sons and daughter who've played competitive sports. Weather it was in grade school in the US (California, North Dakota, Texas) or in Brazil. My sons now play waterpolo at UCLA. In my own profession, I have heard taunting's and death threats (these don not happen as much as other insults, but still) all over the place in the NBA, FIFA, CXF, NFL, WNBA without any punishments being handed out. I genuinely want to know where you have played and who the ref or association is that actually enforces those rules.

YATMにより編集済み: 5/20/2021 1:50:20 PMYou’re comparing trash talk at a professional level among athletes that respect each other to 13 year old kids telling someone to kill themselves because they lost a control match. I know you’re trying to make your professional experience relevant and you were probably dying to talk about how you have been around big stars but it just really is not germane to this conversation. And by the way, as you probably know by being so connected to professional sports, in almost all sports there’s a penalty for excessive celebration and or taunting.

This is nothing special. Also you're the one who brought up this topic in relation to competitive sports, don't go splitting hairs about professional or otherwise now
And by the way, as you probably know by being so connected to professional sports, in almost all sports there’s a penalty for excessive celebration and or taunting.
True. Those are however extremely rare and overwhelmingly non-consequential. Their about as good as a 24 hour mute ban you get online.

Yeah totally not consequential like when a team loses a game because of a 15 yard celebration penalty. Grade school sports? I played through the first year of the college level. You talk trash on the field and you’re going to get punched in the mouth. I mean as a cameraman I’m sure you’ve been real close to the action but… Never mind give me a -blam!-ing break I’m talking to a cameraman about sports.

waterpolo1により編集済み: 5/21/2021 3:03:04 AM
15 yard celebration penalty.
Ignoring the fact that celebration is the polar opposite of shit talking (the topic that you are talking about), do you know how many "Ima -blam!- your daughter in the ass" or "Ima go kill your mom -blam!-" it takes for one get a penalty for it? One in a billion.
Never mind give me a -blam!-ing break I’m talking to a cameraman about sports.
My bad. I forgot that 1 year of college (if that is even true) = more experienced than people who worked in the industry for most their lives. This explains a lot about your views on this subject as a whole. Grow up buddy.

waterpolo1により編集済み: 5/21/2021 9:29:52 AMThose examples were from the NFL since you brought up American Football in your last comment. IDK about Curry but in one game he told Shaq to "-blam!- his mom" and "Jump off a bridge." It was funny. No matter. You've shown yourself to be incapable of staying on topic and failed to make any real points about trash talking in competitive sports, despite moving the goal post a few times. Make sense, seeing as you have very little knowledge on the subject. Nothing sums up your ignorance more than the very sentence you typed earlier. So I will end it with that so you may choke on your own words. Yeah a book like that would sell as much as "How to Breath" or "How to Tell Your Left from Your Right." But, I'd by your book, "Expert in Everything after 1 Year of College: A Tale of Arrogance and Ignorance."
