Bungie actually trying doesn't just mean the game, they basically don't exist in the community unless it's to deliver news that's likely to piss people off in some way or partially backtrack a mistake to get all the praise. They're so big on "Be excellent to each other" yet can't even be expected to embody that. They practically condoned cancel culture when it painted an evil narrative on SNTR/ Lono. After he made a very good counter explanation of what really happened, Bungie didn't apologize, nor condemn the sadistic behavior that literally tried to ruin this man's life over things that never should warrant it. Dude got banned out of nowhere a year later, possibly by Barret due to a very convenient looking tweet right before. Given that and how they view players as cash whales that'll throw money at the screen for now quadruple dipped monetization, it's easy to say they aren't trying when it comes to community. The fact they won an award for it is a death sentence for us.
