There is a saying that "scarcity increases value". By making something rare, or in this case, harder to get, the value of said item increases. This is the approach Bungie is taking toward their transmog system. And honestly, it's a more believable, and smarter take.
If you want to give your house a makeover, for example, you can't just change the color of your walls willy-nilly, you have to go out, purchase the paint and primer as well as some sandblocks. You have to sand down the old coating, prime it, paint it, then sand it again. It takes time, it's complicated, but the end product is well worth the effort. Or you could hire professionals to do it for you (the microtransaction counterpart in my analogy).
Sure, it would be easier if Bungie just let you change your armor's appearance on a whim, but that would cheapen the act. Because you could choose what you look like in any given moment, any customization would be a fleeting experience. But put the effort into choosing your new look, you are bound to appreciate it more, something the youth these days need to learn how to do.

2 通の返信I stopped at "sandblocks to sand the house". You've lost your mind. Power tools or a contractor is the only way to go. Work smarter not harder! ✌
-
4 通の返信I disagree and here's why: Even if I were to transmog my armor, I already put effort in to get that appearance. In WoW, I've earned PvP and raid gear, and when I wear the Mythic sets people can see that I already worked for it. I can put on any of the gear I have and people instantly recognize that it's some of the highest tiered gear you can get. That being said, if someone has Prestige Leviathan gear, you know they already spent the time to get all the armor, so why should they have to put in grind to get armor they ready earned?

3 通の返信It's the believable and smarter take to YOU because YOU aren't hard to impress. And the sad thing is you truly think you are.
There is a saying that "scarcity increases value". By making something rare, or in this case, harder to get, the value of said item increases.
This is thought to be true. But not in this case. You see if Bungie had put a cap on the total number of transmog things you could get per season then yes it would increase there desired value. But they haven’t done that. They have only put a cap on the number you can earn playing the game. They have not put a cap on the total number your can buy each season. So in essence they haven’t increased the value by making them rare. They simply have put a real world monetary value to them.

1 返信The cap doesn't apply if you purchase the end material directly. *Poof* there went your entire argument.

4 通の返信Sure but this isn't painting a house. This choosing what looks like the prettiest clothes to where on my imaginary immortal zombie god. (IIZG)

5 通の返信Ever had the realisation that you spend more time surfing Netflix than you do actually watching something, and then you just put on the same show you’ve been repeatedly watching forever? That’s what happens when you have too much choice all at once, and it’s making us less decisive and willing to take risks as a species. Because why bother taking a risk on a TV show you don’t know anything about when you can just watch the same thing you’ve been watching and enjoying over and over again for years and years? This is exactly the same scenario. Thank you Bungie, for not pandering to our aesthetic comfort zones.
-
3 通の返信Since I already grinded for them and now being asked to triple that grind so I can get 10 armor pieces, I’m good with cheapening the act.
-
5 通の返信While what you’re saying has merit, that does not mean it is the correct approach. Therefore, bad take.

It’s smart for Bungie as it will encourage stupid players to pay real money for cosmetic crap. It’s insanely stupid for players to encourage this lazy development of artificial game content by supporting it, regardless of whether they can “afford it”.

2 通の返信98% of the armour is ugly and not worth the effort for me to turn into ornaments to use. The other 2% I will and probably have them all done in the first season and not every make a full set an ornament. 🤷🏼♂️
