I work at a grocery store (It's a part time thing) and coming in I expected a normal day. And it actually was relaxing; until someone dropped to the ground and started having a seizure.
I forgot about any other responsibilities and rushed to see if my manager needed help. I heard something about paper towels and water, so me and a coworker went to go fetch those. My first instinct was to fill a starbucks cup up and bring it. I helped dry up the floor, (not sure if there was blood or not) and brought the cup back. I don't think they used it but i had to do SOMETHING.
Thankfully the ambulance got here quickly, bringing firefighters and all that jazz. EMS services arrived shortly later after initial questioning and the poor afflicted woman was carried off with her mother who was with her. Apparently the woman in question had a history with seizures in the past. She had also taken her second Covid shot earlier that day. Not that that is the cause, but it is a strange coincidence.
I basically fell into a trance-like version of shock for the rest of the work shift. I avoided full-blown panic thankfully and just kinda immersed myself in the responsibilities I could control. Needless to say, I took my break shortly after that little incident.
There is more, About an hour before clocking out, I was removing the last of the carts from the front when I saw smoke coming from the alley. It was the smokers alley of course and normally I wouldn't think anything of it, but the smoke was much thicker than the normal. Rushing over and... yep a tree was on FIRE! Luckily for me I was able to get there before it got out of control. Even luckier, somebody else discovered it at the same time, so I was able to get assisted in the form of gatorade splashes on the fiery parts.
My helper's companion informed the store manager while we were fighting the fire so he came over with a bucket of water to drench out the remaining sparks. Being the paranoid person I am, I suggested someone remain in the area with more water to prevent reignition. He rejected my suggestion, foolishly as it turned out. More cart fetching later I check back and oh look, the fires are starting to surround that darn tree again. More water; more manager assistance later. The fires went out for good. Because yes, it was a strong wind day. And yes it had to be the one day with low humidity and hotter weather.
Later inspections to determine the cause found cigarettes and a beer bottle. Those likely lit the tree.
I went back home in smoky clothing and a broken brain. Work went by pretty quickly.

Seizures are terrifying because there’s nothing you can really do to help the person.
Props to you dealing with the fire!
I imagine that day did go by quickly...
Sorry, all out of salt.
It rains a lot here. But today, I had a bowl of Cheerios, and it rained. Not that the Cheerios had anything to do with the rain, but what a strange -blam!-ing coincidence.
