There is a meta for a reason, and using it doesn’t make you bad especially considering that every gun in this game is super easy.
Can you be bad and crutch on the meta to be “good”? Yes, and those people are bad
Can you be a very good player and use the meta for an additional advantage and still be a very good player? absolutely
Just thought I’d mention it
Edit: I didn’t add this in my original post, but skill comes down to your movement, map control, and positioning, not the weapons you use. So using 1 weapon or another does not make you bad, it’s just how you use those weapons, where you position yourself, how you move around the map with your load out, that kind of thing.

Doesn't take much in Destiny, movement, smart choices, accuracy, and maybe some sweat to snort if you're that hard pressed.

53 通の返信I would normally agree if this were a different game, however this is destiny. Depending on what It is I can see this point but it comes down to aim assist really, the pvp experience is different on pc of course but on console arbalest, HCs, and other precision based weapons dominate due to how aggressive AA is. What skill is there when the game hands you the headshot or what skill is there when you just shotgun close range? The truth is there is no skill behind it, I'll be the first to admit I do use this things in trials or competitive modes because I am playing to win. But I'll never claim I'm good because of them. If you run around with 120 HCs, Arbalest, Shotguns, and Jotunn... You're not good, you're just playing the game on easy and that's that. I understand when others use these weapons because they wanna win too, but to claim strength from it is arrogance.

3 通の返信michaelにより編集済み: 3/11/2021 12:43:06 PMPeople call me a try hard when I use light subclasses and 140 hand cannons like that isnt literally an off meta loadout these days. Sorry that I want to get better by using the stuff that rewards skill instead of never improving and just always crutching on whatever is easiest.

I always encourage folks to run their most comfortable loadouts in PVP since youll likely do best with weapons you're used to running. But if a person is playing for the sake of wins then I absolutely encourage them to put time into the meta. It just makes sense. Im a hc sniper main so right now is right up my street. I hate autos personally, but wracked up a tonne of kills on gnawing hunger and suros a couple seaaons back. I was there to win not just enjoy the game lol.

Erijianにより編集済み: 3/10/2021 11:17:57 PMIf you're playing someone who is your equal in skill while using lower tier stuff and they're using top tier stuff you're going to lose. That's reality and it applies to more than just video games.

11 通の返信Alkanphellにより編集済み: 3/10/2021 12:53:03 PMImagine the "using meta makes you bad" mentality in any other facet of life. Racecar drivers: Using computer tuned machines with teams of the best mechanics in the world fine tuning it. Having the highest efficiency parts money can buy to have any slight advantage to win against their opponents, whom are also trying to win. "WHAT A SCRUB, YOU SHOULD JUST USE JUNK PARTS FROM ROCKAUTO AND HIGHSCHOOL AUTO SHOP KIDS" Musicians: Using a 10k hand built beautiful violin that gets tuned properly daily and maintained with love and care to make the best music possible. "HOW TRASH CAN YOU BE? IF YOU CANT MAKE A 100$ PIECE OF JUNK SOUND GOOD U NOT GOOD" And here we are. In destiny. People playing the player vs player mode where your goal is to win. "UR USING THE BEST STUFF TO WIN!? HOW BAD CAN YOU BE"

2 通の返信phantomhatchにより編集済み: 3/10/2021 3:38:37 PMIsnt the point of meta being the optimal time to kill? Why would I cut my arm off and shoot myself in the foot then go into pvp? How about let people play how they want. I come home from work and want to unwind and have fun. Not use weapons that take more concentration to use. The lag in pvp is already enough to make people frustrated. Chill out! We use felwinters because its consistency is bar none. I use true prophecy because is smacks like a mack truck and flinches my opponent giving me a better chance to win engagements. I use behemoth because of the movement. I use synthocepts because my melees whiff less. Just have some fun and stop criticizing other people of how they want to play the game. My thoughts about the anti meta agenda.

4 通の返信PVP is broken and results in many issues given the P2P in place from game to game. Throw in CBMM and stasis it’s easy for the PVP crowd to then become hostile and start crying for nerfs. Destiny isn’t worth losing a second of thought with regards to meta, KD, etc. The PVP component of this game requires a complete overhaul and that’s not happening anytime soon or ever. Accept or move on. Only the gullible and uneducated cry about PVP in this game. The rest of us accept it for what it is or simply don’t bother playing it. Time to put on your big boy pants.

it makes you better. You're not unskilled, you're an insecure jerk using annoying crutches that make you better than you actually are. Don't you dare try to say to me some brainlet wuss of a hunter with his shields down tossing a Duskfield grenade at me, shifting 40 feet behind me, and killing me with Felwinters took any effort whatsoever compared to a Titan quickscoping a Dawnblade warlock out of his super from a rally barricade.

4 通の返信I think PvP is some of the most balanced that we've seen. You can use whatever you want and find success. Your core skill level is infinitely more important than the weapons you're running. A bad player is still a bad player even if they're using Felwinter's. Our best players would destroy most lobbies using nothing but blue guns.

5 通の返信Unpopular opinion but skill in this game comes down to movement and map control not the weapons you use.

Meta is not a problem. Lag is much more of problem. Using a modded controller so.you get instant hits or multiple actions from a single button is much worse. So is using mouse and keyboard coverters for consoles. If you like a trend then follow it, if you want to buck the trend, carry on. Just be sportsmanlike whatever the outcome of ypur match
