The point I’m trying to make isn’t so much about grinding. It’s the purpose behind it. It’s the goals I’m trying to hit to get the armor and weapons that will last me. Forsaken gave me a reason to grind for new gear because random rolls (which should have not have been taken out in the first place) came back. Great I’ll grind for my god roll weapons and armor.
Then shadow keep came out with armor 2.0. That’s amazing! I can customize my armor if I grind for the right stat rolls (mobility, recovery, intellect, etc.)
Then beyond light came out... with sunsetting. Everything I accomplished from forsaken, up until now has been made meaningless. It would’ve been a total game changer if they made a weapons 2.0. Were you can customize your barrels/ scope and weapon perks. But no, they decided that all weapons and armor are just going to expire after you spent an entire season grinding for them that they only last for another three seasons.
The grinding isn’t the problem.. the problem is that their is no good reason to grind when everything will eventually fade. They might of as well created destiny 3. They even promised us after vanilla destiny 2 dropped that they would not take all our weapons and armor away ever again. And while they did keep that promise, they also backhanded us by making the weapons and Armor that we could keep eventually meaningless.
So let me ask you this Bungie,
How can we become our own guardian killing machines when you are making our gear eventually meaningless?
What gave people to drive to continue to play was first random rolls in the farm for god rolls!
There armor 2.0 became a huge game changer as far as weapons armor and combat set ups!
And after three years of intentionally and purposefully pursuing higher power levels, everything that I am the rest of the community have worked for are now expired?
Take a few seasons to really think about how sunsetting is affecting your player base. I’m sure you are. If your numbers are higher, then I stand corrected. If your numbers drop, it might be a good idea to stop playing it safe and reevaluate how you can help us become better “guardian killing machines.”
Please consider at least dropping sunsetting for armor. And if so for weapons too weapon customization needs to change though if you want to continues to see player growth.

3 通の返信Meh, I'm picking up plenty of new weapons. It is what ot is.....have to adapt or there is no point playing D2 if sunsetting really bugs you 🤷♂️

5 通の返信Armor sunsetting makes no-sense If anything, make it so if i delete a piece of master work armor, i get refunded the total amount needed to upgrade it in the first place.

29 通の返信TheArtistにより編集済み: 2/16/2021 7:39:17 PMThe real question is this: What is it that you've convinced yourself that you're "accomplishing" in this game OTHER than simply having fun playing it? That expectation----not sunsetting----is what the real issue is. None of ANY of this is real...and the only point of ANY OF THIS (unless you are a streamer or someone else who makes their living playing this game) ....is to have FUN. Sunsetting gives this game the ability to keep givin you power to chase...and the feeling of becoming more powerful...without BREAKING the game in the process. Destiny 2 from Forsaken to Shadowkeep was a broken game, that was in the process of starting to die. You just had to be an experience loot-game player to be able to SEE where the fatal flaws were startign to develop. Bungie made you a promise, that they NEVER should have made...because it was a promise that they had NO hope of ever living up to. They only reason they got away with it for five years, is because they kept NERFING everything into the ground after 12 months (a kind of sunsetting)....and because they woudl ABANDON the game for a sequel before the accumulating problems finally killed off the game. They finally hit a wall when they decided to NOT abandon this game. Thsi game would have become unmanageable....unplayable...and died like a dog if Bungie hadn't done what they did and allowed SIX YEARS worth of content and loot to accumulate in the game. In a way were EVERYTHING was viable and ANYTHING could show up in any part of the game at any time.

4 通の返信Sunsetting is one hell of a beast huh? People are going to defend it tooth and nail, so it's not worth arguing with them. All it does is devalue player investment, force players to grind more, and even in some ways, promote power creep. If you ask me, it's an excuse for bungie to not balance the game. (Cough stasis cough) For example, look at The Messenger. Desperado was a perk unique to Redrix, a difficult gun to obtain. Now, it is on a pulse that is easier to get, has better stats, better perks to roll with, and can get adept mods. It's just Redrix but easier to get and better in every single way. (Not saying its busted mind you) And here I thought sunsetting stopped powercreep? Hm... Sunsetting has done nothing but accelerate the death of the game. In both January and December we lost 30%+ of the total playercount, each month (Pc). We have not seen a loss like that in over a year, but this time it happened twice in a row. Bungie has gotten lazy, sunsetting is just another example in the list.

1 返信The least they can do is allow old god rolled weapons to be infused into the current season if it happened to come out if the vault. Why would I want to regrind for stuff I already have?

Pretty much don't care about rolls or much of anything in game any more, I just use what I get, it's not worth the grind anymore. Every time I log into Destiny I feel like I'm wasting my time, which is why I don't log in much any more.

I don’t think that it’s just the grinding that lost incentive for me, it’s the problem of master working too. I don’t really have an incentive to masterwork any of my weapons or armor considering it’s expiring in a year anyways.

7 通の返信Yu7Ziにより編集済み: 2/15/2021 3:42:15 PMYo SAME! I really can’t be bothered grinding for weapons with extremely short expiry dates that are frequently reskins, reissues or pulled from D1. Even the new ones don’t really wow me the same way D2Y2 weapons did. Bungie has made Destiny more of a “game that has something” instead of a game that is special and fun and engaging. Of course some of that is subjective but for me and probably a few others, even the activities you do to grind for weapons is terrible and repetitive. Really wish weapons were sunset every two years. Some of these weapons barely have space to breathe and are killed off only to be brought back again because Bungie.

2 通の返信I've grown weary of the subject. All I've got left to say is extend the shelf life of gear by a longer timespan and I'll stop complaining.
-
2 通の返信I'm not even interested in logging in due to sunsetting. Can't wait for Outriders.

77 通の返信You don't understand the point of looter shooters. People who wish to die on this hill just make subjective, anecdotal, shortsighted arguments as to why sunsetting is bad for them. Tell the streamer who sent you, we said we don't care. Play a different game where you can use the same equipment over and over. Clearly this system will not cater to you guys. Hang it up and leave. 👋

4 通の返信Stop playing. It’s not a curse or negative post , but a down to earth way of looking at the game. I haven’t played for weeks and haven’t looked back. I’m working on projects for my car and getting back in shape. I got hit last March and still facing symptoms from this shite virus anyway.....

Yeah I don't even bother trying to farm armor anymore, 99% of what I get has crap stats anyway. These day I just wear a motley assortment of armor with whatever decent stats I can find, so yeah, I'm the asshole you'll see running stasis with shards of galanor, because I'll usually run solar with them, but no arms I have gotten in the entire last season has the stats those arms have, so I just keep them on. I'm not even wearing any of the newer armor, other than the cloak, because anything so far has real crap stats. Forget master working any of it. Might as well just flush all those materials down the bowl.

7 通の返信Destiny 2 is a game that tries to be THE GAME for too many different portions of playerbase. Where Sunsetting is horrible for some players, for others is okay/deosn't change much and for others is even great. And this is basically the short story of every single change that Bungie made on this game. Personally speaking, Sunsetting wasn't a big deal for me, but I see why for other people it was a terrible choice. I also agree that Bungie implemented it too late in the history of the game, in a bad way (too many things Sunsetted all at once) and with few new not-really-exciting things to replace them. Also, re-add old Sunsetted Gear to the pool with nothing new about stats/traits it's really sad. However... point is that Sunsetting is a reality. It is in the game and Bungie can only try to "improve it" or tweak it here and there, but now it's part of the game. Which means that one has to choose: does Sunsetting influence my game experience too much? Or I can still have fun with it? And that's it, I suppose.

StonyCorn99853により編集済み: 2/16/2021 12:46:55 AMbefore sunsetting i would max out 3 guardians then grind better armour or weapons. now i use garbage armour to reach max power and pretty much play other games. its completely pointless investing time on armour with a expiration date. and stats are p%ss poor i dont even check the stat level now, is it higher power lvl than what i need, no so its gone lol

2 通の返信Oh no you don't, it's a hell of a lot more than just sunsetting to why the player base is slowly dropping off. Bunny thought adding the new light system was going to change everything, "save them" sorta speak, Wrong! When a game has way too many issues, ignoring them adding mindless content that isn't replayable content to keep players engaged is not going to make the main issues in this game just magically disappear 🤦♂️ Sunsetting is just a tiny thing going and when players actually open their eyes and reality sets in? I kind of feel for them because it's going to hurt.
