Nope. Think you misunderstood the community. Give us the ability to use our old weapons we spent countless ours grinding for. No one wants to grind these same old weapons with a couple new (most likely useless) perks on them.

I respect everyone's opinions about it and its obviously one of the biggest issues ever so I feel like I should be concerned but I just don't care about the sunsetting thing. Just couldn't care less at this point.

I shall help you with what it is you are missing... New players coming in still had to buy said dlcs to play its end game content for the weekly core grind in an expansion players just bought. It is not about having access to old content, it is about what players were told to expect from their purchase. The core weekly grind. That is on bungie and bungie alone. This made a lot of players quit in year one of d1 when the Crota dlc landed and locked players out of the weekly core grind per nightfalls etc. Said content was out of date. New players, not old players, had to pay MONEY for outdated content to do the required core weekly content Ie nightfalls or not really have a reason to play. Instead of just taking the content out of the weekly loop... they are making the content viable so that paying customers do not address this issue legally. Everyone only pointed out the stupidity. Complaining about the idiotic sunset program bungie came up with only got put in a spotlight showing how stupid it is due to this change. So bungie, addressing their stupidity, opened the door to more stupidity by negating the sunset and the content players had, and they only added another season of time before said content is sunset once again. Ie making the currently new players purchases viable rather than mute. These changes are most likely to avoid any legal scenarios that could have popped up due to selling expired content. Not that anyone would have done such things, but I can assure you bungie had their lawyers looking into it since it was making noise. A live service scenario has not done said things before, so new ground here legally speaking. It is nice to see bungie still has players that support their decisions... but the outrage is literally flying over your head here.

Um, I think you massively miss understand. Bungie took away our master worked loot that took years to earn. The players say, if you do that you need to replace it with new loot. Bungie REISSUES the same loot that we already have. This make sun setting look pointless and begs the question, If the loot that is so bad it has to be removed from the game via sun setting, WHY IS BUNGIE REISSUING IT? It is not hypocritical to point at Bungie's failure! To say I am unhappy with their solution or to come to the forums and voice my opinion about it. The players did not ask for sun setting therefore we cannot be hypocritical when we continue to voice our opinions against it. We have done so since day one announcement. We will continue to do so. The new content should have a ton of new gear to replace what is being sun set! Reissue old content gear is not a solution to the problem. Bungie is being lazy, unproductive and making the player base upset.

There are a couple issues I'd take with this sentiment, but the main one is that not everybody is saying everything. It's not like people are saying "we want this" and then when they get it "we don't want that." Each voice is a different subset of the community. Beyond that, in this case the community didn't get something they asked for here. They acknowledged a problem. They didn't say reissues were the solution. Actually, they've always made it clear reissues would not be accepted well. Now they're saying this particular solution to the problem isn't a good one.

Bungie had enough chances to make things right and failed every time. Go forward with sunsetting and introduce new weapons and armor: This was the broken promise that shipped with Beyond Light. Wait to implement sunsetting until the system was ready: Bungie decided to push forward with a half baked system. It’s shortcomings were apparent since it was announced. Community knew it, devs knew it. It’s no surprise that when you remove 50%+ weapons and armor from the game and have nothing to replace it people will not be happy. Then sunsetting rewards for content that wasn’t vaulted, huge mistake. Bungie could have scrapped the sunsetting idea and fixed outlying pinnacles that were the “power creep” problem: Bungie claimed sunsetting was necessary to curb power creep which was ultimately untrue. There were a handful of very powerful pinnacles that Bungie refused to balance (mountaintop, recluse, Revoker, etc.) and were used as a scapegoat to validate sunsetting. Now since Bungie refused to deliver on their sunsetting promise players are rightfully upset with their flip flopping stance scrambling to fix the sunsetting problem they created.

People aren't just complaining about the reissues, they are complaining because their older variants aren't being raised to match their power cap. I can understand the armor because it has access to some old mods they don't want us to use, but weapons are a completely different story. Why can't I use my old waking vigil when they are repowering them for reacquisition? Why did they only choose a select few weapons when the community wanted ALL of them? They didn't HAVE to have new perks for all of them, but leaving them out completely for no real reason is...stupid. The community was clear from the beginning with what they wanted exactly. They did it partially right, but failed in overall execution. It should have been handled just like the garden of salvation and last wish weapons, just boosted their cap, but then ALSO introduce new versions to acquire. This would have satisfied people who already owned said weapons, while giving new purpose to acquire them for veteran and new comers alike. And one final note...power retirement was SUPPOSED to give us new powerful weapons, not reissues after a botched loot pool. The community is PISSED because they couldn't even deliver on the only selling point sunsetting had, so now we are back to grinding older destination weapons for weapons we already own...and we can't even USE the older options for no actual reason.

What?... People don't like sunsetting it's a really stupid idea. I haven't seen a single post asking to give us gear from locations we've already played the shit out of and farmed for perfect rolls. What I have seen is the whole community saying we don't want sunsetting. What they could do is add heroic lost sectors to every location still in game. Which would drop new gear instead.

Id be ok if my old weapons from those locations weren't sunset. It took so many menageries to get a god roll waking vigil. Now I have to grind again and probably never get a good roll?

I have to agree here no matter what they do we complain about it reissue gear, new gear you name it we’ll complain about it.

Welcome to Destiny new light!! Enjoy the endless hamster wheel! The only people that could be ok with being given the same stuff that was taken from them less than 3 months ago would be players that weren't here for the sunset to begin with. The real problem is people that think this kind of practice is ok.

Pretty sure they wanted them to raise the power level so they don't have to regrind the same weapons.
