Updating activities that are in the game to make them relevant. Instead of just letting them sit there and be useless.
They could have just removed them.

What? If you like that gun and its sun set timer is coming up it will be useless in high level activities. They are giving you a chance to get an updated one so it doesn't sun set so early and gives you more time to use it. No one said you have to grind this stuff. They did at least say there will be different mods. Now I personally only like the Vouchesafe. But am I going to grind for it? hell no. I don't like any of the moon loot, but some people do. They don't say if any of this is pinnacle, but I am assuming the dungeons will be. I see this as them making 2 locations relevant and pushing back sun setting on the gear there.
They said though "New Perk Pool" So...it then wouldn't be an Exact Copy.
It's the same gun, the same armor Putting new perks on a list and calling it a day isn't making a new version If they had a different design, had an extra perk, an extra mod slot or whatever else then yes it wouldn't be an exact copy.. but that's not what bungie is doing now is it? We don't care as much about the perks as the gun itself that we grinded for, perks by themselves mean nothing, but unique weapon designs are everything.

But they are not changing (Updating) the content, only some of the rewards. The dungeon has the same rewards as always but only some of them have new perks, this is not updating the dungeon. You know this , right? Changing the perks on a couple drops is not an update to the content, the dungeon is going to run exactly the same as always! New bosses, different mechanics, along with new rewards is a content update.

I was talking about the gear. They are bring them up power level on the guns and armor with some new perks ( my opinion on them are still out there, not talking about them individually). From what I remember currently they are sunsetted. So enabling them to be used in end game. I won’t be using them as I remember they weren’t that great but I did like some of the armor pieces, so getting the transmogs will be nice. But some people do enjoy using them, so they get to enjoy them being usable again. Yes I feel bad for those who like their rolls on their guns/armor and want them un sun setted. Im just looking on the bright side, people get a chance to use a gun they enjoyed.

They aren't updating anything. It's literally the same stuff with new icons in the corner. New 'unique' perks to 4 weapons when dropped in the two Dungeons. I'm sure the 140 RPM Solar sniper rifle will instantly replace my other two 140 RPM Solar sniper rifles... One of which can drop Warmind Cells...

"If you like that gun and its sun set timer is coming up it will be useless in high level activities. They are giving you a chance to get an updated one so it doesn't sun set so early and gives you more time to use it." You shouldn't have to re grind something you already have. Is it really that difficult to just refresh the power cap?

Is it really that difficult to just refresh the power cap?
It isn't, proof: the retroactively updated our Garden of Salvation gear on our characters/vault to having the season of arrivals logo on it and power cap They can easily do it, they just choose not to because they know exactly why they don't want to Another example is dawning, we had the weapons, they "reissued" them but didn't update the ones we had already, know why? Because that way people would be forced to grind it again just to get an exact same weapon copy + perks to replace the 1:1 copy that's already in their vaults from before

Don't know, not a developer or programmer. I know they changed systems and that might have something to do with it. I know thats why there are so many damn bugs lately. You can pretend that gun is sunset and delete it. Maybe you get a lucky drop and get a new one. Though it would be nice to be able to infuse an updated gun into an old one (has to be the same name) and it updates it. New sun set timer and all.
