I’m going to start off by saying that I started playing destiny 2 with foresaken, and before that I was really into COD. I am very active in pvp, which is where this would be the most relevant. I play majority on ps4, but due to personal reasons I had to move to pc for about 4 months, where I continued to use my controller. I’m going to say it outright. Controller vs m&k is not that big in difference. In fact, I was playing better on my pc with my controller than I was on my ps4. Granted, this was during the auto meta, which the aim assist greatly helped with, but even sniper duels felt cleaner. Could it have been the frame rate? Maybe, but I capped it at 75fps to prepare for the ps5. That leads me into my next topic. The ps5. Now, I don’t have one, but I’ve heard that with it, load times are a lot faster. Specifically, the load time with opening your inventory. That is the biggest downside to cross play. It would take me 7-10 seconds to change a piece of armor that someone on pc would do almost instantly when the time calls for it. If that is truly fixed with the next generation of consoles, it brings us that much closer to being on an even playing ground with pc. The next thing I want to mention is the sensitivity of the controller. This is probably the biggest argument against controller vs m&k. If you are in a close combat scenario, which is common with shotguns and stasis, m&k will run circles around you while you struggle to turn around. This can be easily fixed. Take a look at modern warfare. That game has cross play with controller and pc, and it is able to do so primarily to the way you can customize your controllers settings. Specifically, the ability to change your aim assist levels, your sensitivity itself, and most importantly your controllers deadzone. There are cod players like Handler, who play on controller and they gameplay is almost indistinguishable from m&k. If that were implemented into destiny 2, not only would crossplay be possible, it would actually help the game thrive. More people would be willing to buy the game itself instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a new console or pc on top of the game just to play with their friends
