Yet Another Post About Sunset Loot

I don't want to offend anyone I'm just confused. I've been playing Destiny 2 on-and-off since Launch, but dropped it at the launch of Shadowkeep. With Beyond Light, I've come back, and it's been a rough ride. I bought the Warmind, Osiris & Forsaken expansions back when Bungie was friends with Activision, in the days of the Blizzard Launcher. To my surprise they decided to completely remove the first 2 expansions and the base campaign, and most of the content from year 1 & 2. Initially this bothered me, but with time I've come to appreciate the change. Having to chuck all the god-roll weapons into my vault and start from the beginning reminded me how much fun it is grinding for the perfect gun, at least for me. And I'd already experienced all the content from Osiris & Warmind from front to back, so at the end of the day not much was lost there. Although, I do feel bad for the new players that miss out on that content, Escalation Protocol was a great time waster, and I really loved the visuals of Mercury. The main confusing part is that it's possible to earn Sunset gear. So, to lay it all out plainly, it's possible to purchase content that is essentially worthless. Destiny 2 is a game-as-a-service product, so the worth of an expansion isn't solely the story and location and stuff, but the loot and grindable activities. I bought Shadowkeep because I miss the moon from D1, and there's a lot of interesting stuff, stuff that I enjoy, like little hidden bunny statues and sealed chests and even a rip-off of Escalation Protocol. But a lot of it is pretty pointless. I remember going through Altars of Sorrow from start to finish for the first time, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. But then at the end when I got a Sunset Blasphemer, it really took the wind out of my sails, like the entire run was now meaningless. There's even triumphs for interesting experiences like the Ascendant Challenges and Shattered Throne from the Forsaken expansion, but then the loot you get from those activities is Sunset. That, to me, makes very little sense. I understand and now support the Sunsetting of Old Loot, because I feel like it's necessary to refresh the experience for all Destiny 2 players (even though I had like 15k PvE kills on my favourite gun which now collects dust in my vault). I think I read somewhere that the official reason for Sunset was to force players to stop relying on the old perks, and experience the new perk rolls. But, why not just add the new perks to the Old Loot? I think the guns & armour from Forsaken activities look genuinely cool, and you can still earn them, but they're Sunset, why? What boggles my mind the most is that old armour is Sunset. Armour doesn't even use perks, especially after the Armour 2.0 changes. Without getting too far off topic, my main suggestion is that they just open the loot pools to the old expansion activities. To be honest, they don't even have to un-Sunset the old loot (although I would really like it if they did), simply having access to the current loot pool with Forsaken & Shadowkeep Activities would give those activities meaning again. I don't even know if it was worth it to write all of this, but I appreciate you if you've read this far :D
