This is as good as any post on matchmaking to say this as any.
I really can not understand the mentality of people that want to face people that truly have absolutely no chance against them. I can not understand how anybody could want a full team of same skill players, good players, so they don't have to work at all when facing those who have no chance against one of the good players. How is it that you can consider things like this......fun? I just don't understand it. I have not been in crucible for over 3 years now. I quit because it was getting too easy. I held diamond ranks in many playlists, at my best I was at a 1.75 K/D, and when I finally said enough is enough, I was in the top 12%. In the end, instead of just going in and steamrolling those that should not have been facing me at their level, I would just run around to see how long I could dodge those players, and never fired a shot. It was more fun then steamrolling them.
I have always found that the best games were the games that could be decided by even 1 kill. I loved those close games. If we won, we deserved to win, if we lost, we deserved that loss.
Now, I am not saying that matchmaking should be strict SBMM, or strict CBMM. I also have no idea exactly how Bungie could make everybody happy. But I will never understand the mentality of many good players, that only want to face those that have no chance against them, and actually -blam!- when they are the only one on the team able to do that.
You want CBMM so you can harvest potatoes, but you don't want to be the only farmer harvesting them. You want all of your team to be as good at harvesting potatoes as you are, while you face only potatoes. That is really freaking sad, to the point that I actually feel sorry for you......

But it does. Bungies lobby balance sees these two things as being the same. 6 v 6 lobby. Team A= 4 good players, an average player, and a low level player. Team B= 1 great player, 1 good player, 2 average players, 2 low level players. In a lobby like this, Team A is much more likely to win. This is a lobby consisting of a CBMM matchmaking. SBMM, if working correctly, would keep the teams on a more even keel. Lobby balance would be a non issue, or should be, as everybody in the lobby is at pretty much the same skill level.

You have to ignore a lot of the circumstances that are specific to this game to be able to think that. The game does not work right for a lot of people when its more restrictive like it is under SBMM. Those matches that are won by 1 kill that you are talking about are so manufactured when its skill based you can literally feel your movement speed drop and then go up depending on the game trying to keep the score close. Its not a matter of wanting to harvest weaker players its a matter of the fact that some people get a broken, lethargic feeling experience where by the time there's 3 to 4 minutes left you're just looking at the clock waiting for the game to finish controlling the rest of the match.

uh no bro. people dont want cbmm to harvest potatoes. they want cbmm so that they dont have to lag AND sweat every match. And i don't mean for some matches here and there. I mean literally every single match imaginable. With cbmm I can either get super sweats that stomp me normal matches or super easy matches and everyone has the same opportunity. With sbmm we all do not have the same experience in the slightest because people that sweat for a hobby get piled into one corner and just see who can sweat harder while people on the other side of the spectrum don't improve because their fighting other people that don't know how to play crucible. For example, back in D1 i went negative all the time. And i still think my kd is negative in d1 but I kept playing and got better and better. now im around a 1.4. I've seen both sides of the spectrum and climbed my way up. For me personally i'm not trying to stomp noobs im trying to play casually in the crucible without being required to play trials in every 6v6 gamemode. And if you don't believe me look up my D1 stats.

The lag is understandable, though I never had as big a problem with it as its made out to be. Now, the sweat thing, you all need to understand one thing, one thing that seems to never be understood, or is purposely overlooked. When SBMM is active, EVERYBODY SWEATS. You see, it makes no difference what level you are at, you face more EQUAL opposition. Great player vs. Great player, is no different then Bad player vs Bad player. Though most CBMM fans will say it is. When you face an equal skilled person, regardless of skill level, the outcome is the same. Everybody has to work to win. With CBMM, only the lower levels have to sweat all the time. The problem is that, the sweating they do, usually does not come with reward. The notion that you can only improve by facing better players is also false. Most know this, but refuse to acknowledge it. The reason for this, is while you may face equal skilled with SBMM, that equal skilled person usually makes different mistakes then you do. The sweat argument also has another flaw. The CBMM crowd always seems to end up with the "what difference does it make anyway, loosing doesn't matter, just play the game. Well, this way of thinking throws out the argument that better players want to relax and try fun new loadouts. You can do exactly that, any time you want, with either matchmaking in force. Its just that you can not always expect to win at the same time. Remember, loosing doesn't matter......

Your answer also blows away another notion those that want CBMM always go with. When somebody comes on here and complains that they always match people that are way better then they are, the CBMM crowd always says that its not possible that they always match that way. They use the argument that there are not that many great players and that they just need to get good. The OP, using that logic, can not possibly always be the only good player on the team, while having crap team mates. Not without a lower level players argument being correct as well anyway.

Umm destiny pvp is not a true pvp experience......this thread is funny and yet sad.....if you get upset about being too good for pvp then move on to something else.....just enjoy the game and if youre not then get out

I quit because the matches were less likely to be how I like them to be,......where one kill can determine who wins. That is not saying I was upset about being good at the game, just that steamrolling somebody is not fun to me.
