"There are two kinds of pride, both good and bad. 'Good pride' represents our dignity and self-respect. 'Bad pride' is the deadly sin of superiority that reeks of conceit and arrogance."
"When you are full of pride on the inside, it makes you stiff, stubborn, and creates strife with others."
"Pride deafens us to the advice or warnings of those around us."
These 3 quotes from John C. Maxwell sum up a great deal of my feelings towards Bungie, or at least Luke Smith. I've had my suspicions for a while now that Bungie was a bit too prideful, with their unwillingness to listen to their players or to undo a terrible decision, yet I still gave the benefit of a doubt.
Then I found out today about the super sunsetting thing, looked into it, and noticed Luke's "Luke Fantasyland" comment. This is the definitive bell ringing the sign of a man with too much pride for me. He has taken the mantle of the Destiny franchise and is taking it in the direction that he wants without listening to the input of players.
Far too many times now I've seen Bungie make a decision that was looked down upon by the majority of those they are supposed to serve, yet very seldom have I seen Bungie acknowledge their own mistakes; Even more seldom an attempt to fix said mistakes.
There are countless quotes that could be cited about how excessive pride will lead to a downfall, but I feel that point has been reached. The only thing keeping the bubble alive is the raw, corrupting power of money.
There may be a day their bubble collapses. There may be a day Luke learns the humility he seemingly needs. However, a quote by Albert Einstein makes me feel otherwise; "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." People are stupid and gullible and Bungie knows how to capitalize on this. As long as they exercise the ability to intrigue and amaze, feeding into the stubborn ignorance of humans, they can potentially continue to thrive upon a throne of false promises.
It's going to take an active, collective effort to be heard by Bungie. You, the player, are the boss and Bungie is the service provider. They are the ones who are supposed to provide to you. If you are dissatisfied with their service, you can vote for their dismissal with your wallet. Open your mind and look at the overall picture before giving in to the flashy entrance to new content. If you still like what you see, then you may support them, but if you do not like what you see, then do not pay.

1 返信Hamlet76により編集済み: 12/20/2020 5:34:10 PMThe real question is how the hell they keep letting Luke do interviews. In any other company no one as polarizing as Luke would ever be allowed to talk to the media, let alone stay on as game director. Obviously he's very well liked by upper management. And honestly the community has blown his comments WAAAAYYYYY out of proportion.

4 通の返信I don’t think they’re prideful dude. They are a lot of things: liberals, social justice warriors, not in touch with what makes a fun video game, etc. But I don’t think they’re prideful. They’ve owned up to numerous mistakes in the past and fixed the ones they can. I can say a lot of things about bungie, but prideful just isn’t one of them. At least they own their mistakes.

6 通の返信Pride? Proud of what? 14 months to make Beyond Light and there ain't even new pvp maps, only one strike, and like no loot? They should not be proud.

13 通の返信VisualCrewにより編集済み: 12/20/2020 1:49:03 AMMy vision of Destiny: i. End game content that stays end game content. Raids should never be irrelevant. Every expansion all past raids should increase their power levels to stay end game activities. There should be ornaments for raid armor. These ornaments should be acquired like they were in D1. It’s not new, in fact, why was this ever abandoned? ii. Weapons should never be sunsetted. Give us new weapons that give us a reason to leave old weapons. There is not a single argument that can convince me that sunsetting armor is a good idea. It’s armor. If you need to balance armor, just change their mods. Simple. iii. Bring back all D1 gear. Many may disagree with this point, but D2 is essentially becoming D1 and since Bungie is not working on a D3, D2 is the remastered version of D1. This solves some problems with loot shortages and makes people happy by bringing back what you took away from us some years ago with the launch of a game that destroyed its player base. Don’t forget NLB! iv. Rework supers. I would be fine with D1 style supers where everyone wasn’t an ape and roamed around the map for half a minute. Incorporate existing supers into a single, customizable, distinct class defining ability. Sorry Warlocks, but your well makes Titan bubble a bit obsolete. You deserve to have your self-res, regardless of how many bugs it may cause Bungie. v. Fix trials. If you go flawless you should only face flawless teams or teams above a certain win count. This prevents cheaters from stomping people during the first 7 wins and prevents streamers from stomping on people who just started their weekly passage. vi. Nerf shotguns. I know people who quit after their first crucible game because an ape is running around slide shotgunning people. Why nerf snipers and not shotguns? Are the people who work at Bungie shotgun mains? Buff fusion rifles. Make them relevant in pvp. This is an ip defining archetype. Edit: Added more ideas.

3 通の返信You've had your suspicions? Lol bungie has been like this since post ttk it's been like this the entirety of d2 they've blatantly ignored feedback and suggestions and just said the games gonna be this way like it or not.

for me this is the last year i will play destiny. if i dont see the direction that the game needs to go in then im gonna have to get rid of my gaming setup cause this is the game that keeps me interested in gaming. quite sad i know but no other game interests me other than cyberpunk which ive beaten.

2 通の返信Sadly people complain but keep on paying and playing with the hope that the next update / DLC will magically fix everything. We are six years in now and it feels like we’re further away from the glorious potential than ever. I stopped playing in March when I realised that this game is never going to get to a place which I want to jump back in. It’s just a time sink rather than fun now.

There are two cultures of the community, each though will have its own small sub-cultures that branch out from its main ideals. First, those that will support Bungie and will happily throw $$ at the screen (as LS said himself in an ViDoc) no matter what happens. They are die-hard Bungie Defenders and Streamers, though the Streamers usually flitter between both groups depending on their needs and wants. Second, consist of new players (before they have time in the game and at some point will fall into the first or second culture), disenfranchised players, casual players and those who have not lost the hope yet that the game will become better. I have done my share of using the community forums threads to try to get Bungies attention on the things they are doing wrong with no avail. Over the years I have read thousands of threads from the Second Culture requesting change/don't do it Bungie to no avail. Bungie has not listened at all and neither has the community leaders. When will the Second Culture learn that Bungie will never listen and take your concerns to the drawing board? Every thread that is done will not be read or passed on and fall to the Forum History. Bungie will only listen to the Frist Group and primarily the Streamers. I have stopped playing for 2 years now, my son though plays from time to time with his $ that he earns. Change will only occur if Bungie's bottom line is hurt, that means Eververse and Game Content sales. If the sales fall to a line that financially hurts the company only then will they listen. Change will be pretty be much overnight.

All mis deeds gather their just rewards. Bungie is no exception to this. I was content to see where things would go but BL's content so far proves we're not in Year 4 at all. We're in year 3 still and it's a garbage heap. The only thing that progressed was the story.

Nicely said and accurate as far as I'm concerned. I stopped playing a few seasons ago, just couldn't handle the boredom with all the same content, planets and enemies. I don't consider the childish 100 level mess new content by any stretch. This, coming from someone who played daily since D1 launched. There was a group of us that played together and over the years that group quit and in the end leaving just me a few months ago. I've moved on to other games and Bungie won't get a cent more from me for Destiny. They're content to listen to a teenie tiny vocal content creator minority who are NOT the face of the community that play the game. I thought things would have been different with the split from Activision, but boy was I wrong.

1 返信what makes me the most sad is how damn unique destiny is, I don't know of any other game that's remotely like it. and now it's being ran asunder by men who simply seek the green, like a new light running toward and exotic engram surrounded by suicide shanks and thralls. I just hope that they actually try listening to people and possibly even allowing votes on new mechanics or possible reworks of old. and don't even get me started on the pay walling, that shit's just straight unfair as f**k.

11 通の返信Yosemite Samにより編集済み: 12/19/2020 9:57:37 PMD2 shouldn't have ever been created that the game is a disaster right now in just about every aspect of it. IMO if this company was smart enough they would have picked the game up from Forsaken to actually improve the game getting it to move forward. But, because of their arrogance, they changed this game again for the umpteenth time making matters worse. 4 years, when does, hey! maybe we should work with what has actually worked for the game kick in? The game has no identity, no foundation, and only one destination relevant out of the entire game. 4 years later and this is the best they can offer. The only reason it has a player base is because of the new light system that has a high turnover. Bungie literally destroyed their own game because of their arrogance, wanting things their way instead of working with the player base and putting the top streames way above the player base. These last 3 years Bungie has made all kinds of promises yet their actions have shown otherwise. Nothing will ever change unless they let that bubble pop and I don't see that happening anytime soon with NetEase being on the board with cheap lazy throwaway content better known as season passe, the shop, and most of all, who is making the calls for this game. Edit: It's interesting reading the replies on this post of players that complain about how toxic this forum is, yet the same people will find posts like this and insult the OP, make it personal, and attack anyone that has a different opinion about the game or their opinion and attempt to make it about the person. To the OP, don't pay any attention to anyone trying to troll you in hopes to trigger you. They are a pure waste of everyone's time.
