You know how good those games are gonna have to be to create competition for destiny? I'm talking a great game right out the gate with interesting mechanics and a promising future of content (not a promise of future content), not shit like anthem which have promise but were not worth the effort, or warframe that's a come a long way but still lacks a comfortable progression system to keep players invested. So many games come to try and "make competition" for destiny, but it just...doesn't happen, at least not for very long because destiny is MORE than just the shit we like to complain about. It's the gameplay, the music, the pvp option, the variety in pve, and the fact that the name of the original creators that created one of the biggest gaming phenomenons ever has weight in just the name alone. EVERYBODY I know saw it said bungie made it for d1 and bought it for that fact alone. Can you say the same for anything else that's come out recently (cyberpunk is one, but that games a joke)? Putting so much blind faith into them that even a broken hot mess had players coming back 6 years later? The game makes stupid decisions that hurt the game over and over, but it doesn't stick around for no reason. Bungie's formula for what they got right obviously greatly exceeds the stupid nonsensical decisions they've made as other games that try the same shit simply die in no time. I WISH something made competition for destiny so that they'd better their game not because they want to, but because they have to. Expand because they need more, converse with us more because they need it, etc. They need to be pressured by competition. I think outriders has some solid potential, but third person shooters can't quite capture gameplay the same way first person shooters do and so in that department I think it's already at a disadvantage. I personally like third person shooters so it doesn't bother me...but I think they are more fitting of a mass effect style game, not so much a loot shooter.
