In PvE, it is fun. In PvP, people need to detach it from its exotic perk for a second and look at its stats. Best in class or above average in basically every stat. I think there might be value in just using Hawkmoon like a normal HC with no final round, it’s consistency and feel are unparalleled.

To an extent, I agree. It feels quite plain. But I don’t think there is necessarily anything wrong with having an exotic simply be a gun with exceptional stats and consistent performance. A gun like MIDA also fits in this category.

And Hawkmoon has Final Round and a myriad of potential perks in its other trait slot. They’re different exotics, but the principle is the same—basic gun simply meant to have overall great performance, not some flashy perk. Whether one does it better or not isn’t really relevant, it’s more to show that the community has accepted an exotic on the basis of consistency before.

You basically have to play Hawkmoon in PvP the exact opposite of any other HC. Don’t reload after a kill. Just pop domes till you hear the hawk, 1 hit kill a guardian, then reload. It’s counter intuitive to most people’s muscle memory on playing in PvP.

And it’s stats are crazy good! Not a big HC user but I know I’ll have to remember not to reload right away or dodge reload when I try it out to see it in action. Hope one of the random perks it can roll with is triple tap 🙃
