Im gonna be honest here, this is the most balanced the primary weapon sandbox has been since d2 launch. People are just flocking to the outliers as usual (which there are considerably fewer than normal). Ace has the highest range and an amazing perk crimson is just an overall really good weapon with an amazing perk so it's clear why they're the most popular. The legendary handcannons are pretty much in a perfect spot along with the other legendary primary archetypes. Pulses slay, autos still slay, sidearms have always been good, heck even scouts have a place right now. If it weren't for the outliers like Ace and Crimson, I think there would be a ton of variety right now.
Only adjustments I'd say we need is to tune Ace and crimson down, and tune high rate of fire smgs and low rate of fire autos up. Neither of those types of weapons can do anything in the current sandbox and honestly haven't been able to do anything at all for a while now. Nerf the the Ace of spades and crimson range and maybe tone down the aim assist on them as well.
What people won't acknowledge is that they are losing gunfights to a 0.87 (140 hand cannon) using a .7 pulse, .67 side arm, .76 auto rifle, etc.
TL:DR
Hit your shots.
The range on ace is only felt because most other high range hand cannons were lost in sunsetting. When / if thorn gets it's catalyst or when random rolls come to hawkmoon ace won't be so dominate.
Old fashioned can roll pretty high.
Kindled is very good but can't obtain anymore and you also can't use in LL activities.
Same goes for austringer.
Same goes for better devils.
Rose is good, but it lacks range because it was a 150.
Same for dire.
Same for spare.
Same for waking vigil.
Ancient gospel is amazing and highly slept on.
I wish the new raid HC was a 140.
180s are for the birds IMO. I've never liked them.
IMO diversity died when sunsetting eliminated 60% of your options without any replacements. When palindrome and other weapons return next season things will be better.
If you didn't know. Bungie is bringing a " bunch of new loot " next season. Fingers crossed for that thorn catalyst... It's going to be huge.
TL:DR
Sunsetting sucks.
Next season is going to be epic.
Rework light subclasses like stasis.
