Lilo and Stitch would be x100 better without Lilo.

EDIT: You don't have to read this all, only if you think Lilo couldn't have been drastically better any other way. You could just share your own improved version of the story. So, one minute, we're in an intergalactic-pursuit-SciFi-action scene... and next, we're on the dullest island in the pacific with a bratty sass-mouth as our lead protagonist, who has little to no character growth. What- what happened? Is this really the movie? Okay, guess I'll just enjoy it anyway, because Stitch himself is amazing. And he is. It's just, Lilo isn't. But we do need someone to be the counter companion to Stitch's devastating nature, to show him the other joys of life, and "humanize" him, so we settle for Lilo. Look, her character is funny at best, and her sister has a great character arc, so we shouldn't completely ditch them, just... fine tune the story. In my opinion, Disney should've been consistent with the action genre and not toss him in Hawaii, labeling his only weakness as water, while having a slow pursuit of aliens hunting down a fugitive trying to fit in something outside his comfort zone. Since I'm claiming Lilo shouldn't be the center focus of the plot, I should come up with a better story, otherwise who am I to judge the movie? But I also think it would be fun if you guys shared some ideas to improve the movie. So yep- share yer opinions ples', I wannna hear 'em. I know there's no changing what is, but it's fun to talk about how it could have been better. In my opinion, Disney shouldn't have let its "this is a cartoon, cartoons are for kids, kids don't need good films" principles hold them back. So where should have Stitch landed? How about somewhere in a warzone like modern day Iraq, World War 2, or maybe Disney could've tried being creative and have him land on future-earth, where there's a whole 'nother war because of a modern problem in society's corrupted system. Now some may say Stitch crash-landing in a warzone is not a good idea, because he's so destructive. That's where the genius of the situation comes from! Put him in a warzone, have a good-person soldier "rescue" Stitch from the scene, and have Stitch wake up in a military camp. Now instead of getting Lilo in trouble, the soldier protagonist is the one getting in trouble, and instead of answering to 'Bubbles/Cobra,' the soldier would answer to a higher rank- also called Bubbles/Cobra- who is actually a MIB kinda dude like the original Lilo and Stitch. That's where some of the tension to move the plot forward comes from. And the protagonist could be called Nani! A Hawaiian gal who's been enlisted in the army ( or drafted if it's the future) and is the character who humanizes Stitch and shows him the better sides of life: the beautiful irony of a soldier showing a monster how to not be destructive! And, instead of having Stitch hide his combat talents for the most of the film, let him be himself! Have him fight Terrorists, -godwinslaw!-, or the like. To know not to always destroy, not to always stand by idle, but to protect others and die for them if needs be- to make the ultimate sacrifice! One could deepen the plot further by having Stitch catch the eye of the government, who desires to exploit his destructive talents to their own end- if you're in to that kind of cliché. And the aliens hunting could disguise themselves as the enemy fighters, trying to capture Stitch while not hurting humans. Can you imagine how entertaining that would be?! As for Lilo, since she does have her moments, Lilo can appear on the side of the story as Nani's millennial little sister who misses her older army-enlisted soldier sister person. And we don't need the cliché of dead parents, that's just a cheap way to give the protagonist more freedom. We got Nani. And her off-duty moments could be what humanizes Stitch. Instead of bratty bully girls who are mean just because, we could have other troops who are downright jerks and are in the army simply because they're schadenfreudes. One of the "bully troops" could be mean, but with some realistically redeemable qualities, having moments where Nani/Stitch saves his life, and BOOM- we got another character arc. And if we're feeling cheesy, this he could fall in love with Nani and die saving Stitch for her. Personally, I think if it'll be better if he already has a girl, but he still dies for Nani (not because he loves her), but because he really is a good person now who authentically cares about others. Imagine, at first he's racist against her being Hawaiian and female, and the next, his dying words are to her are something similar to: "Like you say, everyone is Ohana." *groans* "Just don't leave me behind, yeh? Don't let them forget about me. I may be broken, but I'm Ohana too." *slowly closes eyes* "And I never- I never got to Lilo how much I love h-" *dies* O_o So yeah, imagine "Sgt. Stubby" meets "Starship Troopers" (the book), but the Sgt. dog is a killer alien who wants to exploit its owners kind nature, and the Starship Trooper bootcamp training/warzones is the setting. And when they send Captain Gantu to retrieve Stitch, it could be a more intense, heartfelt NOOOOOOOOOOO DON'T TAKE MY BLUE DOG!!! moment. And instead of Stitch rescuing Lilo, we'll have my version of Nani rescue Stitch and prove she deeply cares for him and that he truly is her ohana. But that's my opinion of how the movie could have been better. And if we want, we could rename Nani to Lilo, and Lilo could be called Nani. Why the name swap? Well 'Lilo' means lost or 'give up' in Hawaiian, and Stitch is to bring something together with a sharp painful needle. Any other versions you guys have that would make this x100 better in you opinions?
