I have been using stasis and have been effected by it enough to come up with constructive feedback that is not “it’s broken” or “nerf it now”. Please read the entire post before commenting.
1. Being frozen. This mechanic’s biggest issue is the punishment for being frozen. There should be no damage when breaking free as getting frozen in the first place is enough of a punishment for the player. I suggest, removing the damage all together, or if bungie want the damage they should damage if you don’t mash out and the timer runs out, meanwhile maybe buff the player for escaping the freeze like an over shield. Basically breaking free forcefully should be rewarding and not punishing.
2. Being completely frozen solid seems a bit too unfair for the player as there may be no counter play to being frozen. This could be countered with possibly freezing the player’s feet, allowing them to still fight back but stops their movement. If full freezing is what bungie wants I think the only way to fix it would be absolutely following what I said in point 1
3. The warlock melee should be a progressive freeze over time rather than an instant. I’m maining the class right now and clearly see that shadebinder is too powerful. The melee is one of my main point as it’s a free instant freeze unlike the titan’s and hunters slow/over time freezes. This would be fixed by making the melee take 5 seconds or so to fully freeze the player after slowing them down, allowing for room to counter play.
4. The Titan super is nothing new with roaming supers in general. This also goes for spectral and striker as their ability to spam light attacks makes counter play extremely difficult. Added on the large damage resistance and you have a powerful super. I feel like there needs to be a cool down on how much you can spam the light attacks on these supers as they travel really fast in random directions with little punishment just by spamming.
That is my criticism on how stasis should go in the future. I feel like all the classes have strengths and weaknesses in their own right but some things need to be tuned for it to feel fun to play against rather than boring and frustrating as people are finding it now. I do not think completely removing it from pvp is the way or nerfing it to the ground as this is something completely new which should be embraced, but it needs to be fun first. I hope someone at bungie sees this. Thanks for reading.

You've good feedback! Getting damaged is the trade-off for breaking free earlier, they won't take that away. But I do hope they will tune down the dmg in PvP and maybe make it a bit faster. Otherwise I think, while stasis is definitively strong, it is not overpowered. I still get shoulder slammed into oblivion. I still eat shottys all day every day. 3rd person view in ult kills me regularly cuz I can't see some enemies. Telesto and Mountaintop are still out there. Freezing titans or SB hunters in their super-strike animation kills me anyways (haven't encountered forsaken warlocks yet). The best tactic against stasis is staying away from it and playing long range. Or sliding with shotguns around corners, you do you. Shooting your allies to free them sounds funny. Throwing a solar grenade at your allies to melt the ice sounds also good :D

2 通の返信First off- Everyone complaining "Don't nerf Warlock, it's already weak/never gets anything good" is on some sort of next level denial, and that's all I'll say about that. Onto the main issue- As someone who has decided not to purchase BL, I have basically forfeited any kind of "counter" that could be used against Stasis; That counter being "freeze them before they freeze you". I'm a Destiny veteran, playing since 2014, and I have never seen the PvP meta so shaken to the point of breaking before. Like a few others have said here, and I've seen around the net, Stasis has, almost overnight, made PvP not fun anymore. Just in D2, I've lived through the Recluse, Spectral Blade, Hand-Held Supernova, Lord of Wolves, Mountain Top, and Hard Light meta, but Stasis is on a whole other level. The suggestions I've seen to tweak Stasis seem to come from a place of levelheaded fairness. I don't think it should be removed, but, it shouldn't be the juggernaut it is currently. Of all the shortcomings Bungie has fumbled with in the release of BL (sunsetting, vaulting content, promising changes that didn't happen, etc), Stasis in PvP seems like the one that could be addressed the easiest.

1 返信I agree on most of this. The big issue is stasis abilities freezing instantly. Stasis abilities should only slow guardians, with only supers being able to fully freeze them, or freezing a player being something more difficult (like having to land BOTH shurikens to freeze them just like in PvE. Also, I agree that punishing the player for breaking free from freezing is terribly unfair. If a player manages to break free and escape with their life, they shouldn’t be punished and left with almost no health. They should be penalized if they don’t do anything and stay frozen until the duration expires, not if they break free.

4 通の返信1. Freeze time needs to be drastically toned down in pvp. Takes over 2 seconds to get out of being frozen. That’s ridiculous... 2. I agree. Why are we taking damage for not just sitting there? 3. My biggest gripe with the whole thing. Why the -blam!- is there a GODDAMN animation to get out? Like why do we need to spend EVEN MORE TIME immobile?

Problem with stasis in the crucible is it just does too much. Super quick to insta freeze, natural breakout time is super long, forced breakout time is way too long and uses a shit ton of health, freeze silences you taking you out of supers and suppressing literally everything, the slow from other stasis abilities effects wat too much, range on freeze from melees is way too long, insta freeze on a ranged melee is kinda crazy... I can go on an on about how much it does. When you make abilities that do this much this good, it will always break the game. Stick to "Does one thing good", then tweak accordingly. Back in the end of D1 and the beginning of D2 Bungie promised that they had created a way to separately tweak PvE and PvP, to this day I really haven't seen it. If a armor/weapon is super OP in PvP/PvE it gets nerfed across the board. I only hope they can tweak stasis in PvP only, and leave PvE as it is. I'm no game developer, but maybe they can apply how stasis/freeze effects Majors/bosses to Guardians in all forms of PvP (Crucible/Gambit). But in reality it'll need a full rework and a 100% split in how the everything about it works between PvP and PvE.

Freeze should be reworked for pvp. And you should be able to shoot your teammates out of their ice. I think trials would’ve been a Bungie massacre if it took place this weekend. I don’t know who was testing stasis in pvp models and thought it was ‘ok’ or ‘fun’. It’s awful

1 返信Navigneasにより編集済み: 11/16/2020 5:37:29 PMShouldn't freeze in pvp. Shouldn't freeze other supers. Shouldn't give flat bonuses. Shouldn't give +25% weapon damage on freeze. Shouldn't give heart of inmost light perk but on steroids on crystal breaks. Shouldn't have freezes that can bounce between players and freeze them theorically forever. Shouldn't hurt to break free. Shouldn't have a break free animation lock. Shouldn't be third person so that you can't aim. Supers shouldn't deal more damage than others for the same attacks. Simple grenades or melees shouldn't be able to one shot full life supers.
-
there also needs to be more ways to break free of the ice block. Using you class ability should instantly break you free and using your super should also instantly break you free. Also you should be immune to freeze when you are in your super.

2 通の返信Being frozen is not a mechanic that works in PvP. I can't see how that's ever going to work. It removed too much absolutely fundamental gamer agency. The other issue is this is a F2P shutout. It's P2W on an unprecedented scale, dwarfing third tree additions of Forsaken. That's bad, very bad, for everyone who plays.

4 通の返信Budg13 Smugglerにより編集済み: 11/16/2020 3:29:21 PMIn pvp it should only freeze your legs like variks in the cutscene and either slow or prevent turning so if enemy is in front of you there is still chance that don’t die. Also would be nice if you could shoot a teammate out of frozen state

2 通の返信love the ideas that you came up with for a stasis fix. I doubt Bungie will incorporate any of them, but it is what it is. If anything they'll keep stasis the way it is for a few weeks maybe till after Thanksgiving or even till January to see how it does in both pve and pvp and then start the fine tuning to make it more balanced. I think they're just giving us full access to it for a little bit just like in Forsaken and then balancing it little by little down the road. Just like with Forsaken Warlocks had the best super in the game, but there was complaint of it lasting too long, having too much radius, and being able to one shot other supers (even tho the others ones could do the same) and it got nerfed into the ground. Hunters had both Spectral blades and Blade Barrage, SB had bs damage resistance, and lasted for too long and now it got reworked so its light attack can 1shot any super and BB lost a little of its tracking. Just give it a little bit of time and we'll see stasis brought in line with the other Light supers XP

I see what you’re saying but there are the PVE players and the PVP players. Sometimes a PVE will dip into crucible for gigs or dailies whatever but to PVP mains stasis seems like it’s made a big impact. Think of it this way: if you’re a PVE main and now EVERY npc ad grenade or melee freezes you, you’re gonna be a little upset about it

3 通の返信My take on it is Yes - No ability on ONE HIT should instant freeze - I believe personally this would fix things ( in my eyes) in pvp Then shadebinder "woudl" be nerfed so their melee wouldn't freeze, Maybe make shadebinder's projectiles ( I think melee shoots one, super shoots 3 ) slow on hit, and then if all 3 from super hitm freezes. that would still keep shadebinder " a super", while also meaning you need to aim a tad more.
-
Good feedback. I think the freeze mechanic can definitely be balanced if it gets changed a bit. There are a lot of things you can do, getting the freeze over time (like you mentioned it) or giving people the opportunity to move slightly while being frozen. Bungie knows that it's overtuned and I think they want it to be that way for a few weeks longer.

2 通の返信Killにより編集済み: 11/16/2020 4:47:06 AMThe freeze is the biggest issue imo. As you said, there's no counter play if you're frozen. Even nightstalker tether doesn't completely immobilize you and gives you a chance to escape or counter. So now we have fast charging long range melee abilities that are more powerful than a super?

2 通の返信BaconColaにより編集済み: 11/15/2020 8:31:48 PMFirst of all thanx for being constructive and not being emotional. Not sure I can do the same but i can try :-D In my opinion Stasis breaks the smaller maps with low ceilings. Cauldron is a great example. Imagine this map in Trials or Iron Banner when players communicate. You can spam entire rooms with spheres and play an entire emote before you kill off entire fireteams. A melee must not have a worse impact as a super (Tether) You are making good points about being able to fight back but I really don't think you should get frozen at all. PvP is about milliseconds and not about seconds. In my opinion Stasis should not be part of PvP... the lore and story would already suggest that it corrupts ones minds, so why using it for sports? I get it Bungie wanted to give us something powerful but they kinda messed up with the sounds, it feels clunky when you use it and it is OP when it is used against you. A slow down effect or a health drop on melees would suffice. Celestial Fire doesn't kill, it got a giant hit box too but you can fight back. PvP should be about fighting back. There are literally thousand ways to make it better for PvP, I don't think it should be in there.
