The players they carried to the lighthouse in many cases have not. Reducing the market for cheaters to benefit from cheating will lead to a waterfall effect of a reduction in cheating. Translation: Unemployment has risen worldwide. Cheating in Destiny is largely a paid service. Players wanting loot from endgame PvP activities will pay a player to carry them by whatever means. When this happens, the cheater has recovered their investment in their cheat subscription and obtained a net profit. They have also recovered the cost to repurchase the game when they've been banned, and the successful ones can fund additional hardware to continue cheating following hardware/IP bans. They've now turned a video game into a paying job. Banning the players who pay for these carries will have a multiplicative reduction in cheating prevalence by minimizing the monetary incentive to pay for cheating services.
