Bungie, please do not ever sunset exotics.
When in a Twab it was said that there were no plans currently in place to sunset exotics, I think a lot of us breathed a sigh of relief, but I have always had that in the back of my mind, thinking about the word "currently."
I think that most people agree that while some exotics are pretty good, most of them aren't breaking the sandbox. Anything that is usually just needs a bit of a tuning.
Besides, while exotics are just as much a part of the sandbox as legendaries are, they've always kind of operated differently. While there are plenty of good legendaries, there are only a few really exotics that match up at any given time. Considering that, it should be far easier to balance out the exotics in the sandbox than the legendaries.
All this to say, most of us don't think there's very much reason to sunset exotics, and most of us would like to see them stay uncapped, especially when so many of them have never had their chance to shine.
Edit: I probably should have guessed that my first post to make it to the top of trending would be one about sunsetting.
Honestly I'm just glad that this is getting some visibility. As much as I think bungie isn't going to make that mistake, I'd rather give them the feedback now and leave it up to chance as little as possible.

Dont think they will, because they are already having a hard time creating creative exotics. This season for example had no new exotic armor pieces for the first time since launch. They were probably moved forward to BL so that wouldnt feel empty. Also, the lack of stasis exotics coming next season is an argument for this.

Since then they haven’t touched exotics. So Im confused on why this was brought up. Literally everything that I’ve seen has been blown out of proportion. “They are gonna nerf this, sunset that.” Like be quiet and wait until confirmation.

7 通の返信If they end up creating an Exotic that just throws balance out of control I'd have no issues with them sunsetting it if and only if they can't properly balance it in whatever piece of content it's out of control in. Aside from that there's zero reason for sunsetting any kind of Exotic.

This is something this entire community needs to always keep in mind [b](license agreement, subject to change)[/b] IMO this company has abused this, especially with this game contently changing their mind about whatever to fit their needs, not really considering what the players would like... It's one of the things I have a hard time with when it comes to trusting this companies word. An example, They said Factions were coming back in season 7 and anyone can look that up, but we all know that never happened. So, the community asked about them for a good couple of years and not one time was there an official word about them until the directors cut. It was mainly "they have no plans at this moment" but later they added some of the loot in the game to drop from factions. I've lost count of how many times in the last 6 years this company said something and done the complete opposite. The problem with this is, the (unsuspecting players) get their hopes up and easily get disappointed when what they think will happen never happens. This is a really bad thing knowing this company constantly changes things. Yes, plans change, things change but to constantly keep changing everything is not a plan, that is what you call winging things, and winging things doesn't work for a game like this. Don't ever get attached to anything in a game, or any game for that matter. Nothing is untouchable in Destiny when it comes to this company knowing how often they change their mind.

I’ll never understand why some many people are so deeply entrenched in mediocrity, that they refuse to call Bungie to task for saying that we would be able to keep our favorite stuff moving forward. Pro sunsetting players Fall back on arguments such as “it’s done in other loot games”, as if there is no way to set the bar with hard work, dedication to their word, and innovation. If you’re reading this, know that the people who created the devices and platforms you are interfacing with, didn’t think “it can’t be done”, or “it’s never been done”. At one time in the distant past, Bungie didn’t think that way either. They simply aren’t the same company, and the current team is standing on the backs of giants who built a foundation so good, even their current buffoonery, and bold face lies can’t stop it from being the best looter shooter in a heap of garbage.

Exotics already get "sunsetted" via their effective usefulness over time (Skyburner's Oath, Ruineous Effigy, etc), so having them get sunsetted for real would be pointless and a right thwack between the legs with a sledgehammer, especially if they sunset the super-rare raid exotics. And to be clear, the example exotics I mentioned are just personally ineffective; SO is outclassed by pretty much everything, and RE was really only to do the Savathûn's Eyes (fun gun to use though).

Bungie shouldn't be sunsetting anything, let alone exotics. But of course, they'll come after exotics eventually just as they promised in the initial announcement regarding sunsetting. They're dead-set on shipping updates that ruin the player experience, after all.

3 通の返信As a D1 vet who played since alpha and beta and who always pre-ordered / bought an expansion in the first few days, I can say that Beyond Light is the first expansion that I haven't pre-ordered and that I won't be buying in the first few days. Ill maybe consider buying it eventually so that I can play with my clan and whatnot but this whole sunsetting bullshit is not going well for me, a mainly pvp orientated player ( I do both pvp and pve but more so pvp ). However, I swear to -blam!-ing I don't know what, If Bungo sunsets EXOTICS, I will -blam!-ing quit this shit and never return.

They will eventually come back. Look at Beyond light, it’s shadowkeep 2.0, double the price justified by a couple tweaks: - introducing a destination that was designed at the times of TTK - recycling the will of Crota - introducing one new strike - reskin of current abilities into frozen versions (ok that’s new, but still far from TTK abilities revolution) - sunshot recycled meta - recycling cosmodrome - recycling VoG. Vex Mytho is going to be meta for a few weeks, then big nerf, just like in D1. - that’s not to mention the recycling, nerfing and the like to the old whisper/blackhammer/black spindle which has now, just like in D1, become useless except for 1 or 2 encounters in the game. - same for sleeper - same for so many other weapons, abilities, and exotics. The most recent statement I heard from bungie is: “we want destiny to feel like D1” Yeah right. We got that...! I remember a statement: “bungie’s consistent inability to deliver content in quality and time.” Meanwhile ATVI is now double the value they were with bungie weighing on expectations and costs. I really love this game, but its history, vision and management are very disappointing. Hopefully it will become something more complete, eventually an expanding universe (as opposed to DCV), in 10y.
