The game changes depending on if you are a new light player or not, for me for example my character woke up in the cosmodrome and went on to kill every destiny boss we know of so far, for my friend his character *canonically* has only killed Gaul and everyone afterwards

Lukas already explained it, but I’ll add on. There is a little bit of different dialogue depending on if your account is old or new, but there are many instances in the game and lore that confirm we are the Guardian from Destiny 1 no matter when we made our characters. The most notable are how everyone still called us Young Wolf and Godslayer, especially in Shadowkeep where it’s said several times that we previously killed Crota and Omnigul. Other examples are more subtle, mostly the NPCs alluding to how they’ve known you since D1. We’re most likely going to be getting even more in Beyond Light because of Variks and the Stranger, who met us early in D1 and are very very likely to address us as old acquaintances.

If you didn´t play D1 you shouldn´t know Variks, but the Servitor still greets you as an "Old friend". (in this situation Servitor = Variks) Yes, dialoges are different, but thats just so new players won´t get confused over little things (like: what is SIVA) thanks anyway, every reply is good

The canon for your own guardian changes bro, don’t make a post asking this question then tell the person who answers you they’re wrong, I’ve played this game since the first day of the beta. Should probably check yourself haha

What? I do have new player dialogue and I have been refered to as Godslayer few times. I also provided proof (Warden of Nothing strike) wanna next proof? Fine: In new player dialogue, in Inverted spire strike, I got this dialogue: Ghost: there is a full battalion of cabal. Zavala: full battalion? What is that for you, who have slain gods in the heart of the black garden? (he is refering to the campaign of D1 and destruction of Black Heart) next: I never asked if lore is same for new light and veterans. My question was specifically about the first mission and I think we got it solved with KSpooky here.

That’s just the default dialogue because it’s a strike, but generally in destiny any new light guardian is canonically said to have only awoken after the red war hence why when you first fly to the tower you don’t go straight into the whole red war thing

Ok, lets leave new light aside now, how about players who started playing D2 before this New Light thing. And their tutorial was first story mission? Next: Strike dialogues can change if you are veteran player. I think that in some strike on Nessus Cayde talks about SIVA only if you are veteran player.

But it’s also just a game and they don’t likely fix all the dialogue . What I’m saying is that if someone was to start playing right now, then canonically their guardian has done very little, obviously you can ‘time travel’ and do the red war etc but yea

Isn´t it just wierd to split canon like that? also: outside strike dialogue: In first mission Amanda says something like: Hey Zavala I picked that guardian you never shut up about. (refering to the cool stuff from D1) To the new light stuff.... I guess its possible, but I think it´s not likely.

It’s because theres hundereds of people making the game and handling lore aspects so they confuse and contradict themselves many times throughout the game. So many times has the lore been mismatched or repeated randomly because it’s likely that different people have their own thoughts about something to the previous person

Ok, those are development mistakes you are mentioning. Since we can´t tell what is mistake and what is supposed to be there till Bungie tells us, so anything that is inside the game should be taken as a proof, but I will go now. Its like midnight here XD Nice lore talk see ya
