Answer this question honestly: What is the last REALLY fun content this game has released? If you can answer that honestly you are on your way to recovery.

Everyone is here attacking this man and declaring "no one will care if you leave" like the game doesn't have a 1/3 of the consistent players it had a year ago. I see the same people in the Crucible all the time. The same bitter people in these forums. People are in fact leaving. Whether it be because of sunsetting and other poor choices or because of the sorry state of the game. It's not the same as it has been. I love Destiny, and I'll see it through to the end... But why does the community have to be a whole additional reason to want to play other things. The foundation of the game is amazing... but the approach to it with the tools and resources available leaves more to be desired. This place is for feedback. I see no problem with a person being disgruntled because the things someone worked for are being taken away to be sold back at a later time. Mocking other players is no way to retain them. And we want people playing the game. The forums are like a crazed mob in Salem. We should be seeking balance and offering ways to improve the game. Not suppressing our peers.

In May: this post would’ve gotten 500-1000 likes minimum and hundreds of comments agreeing with OP. In October: it can’t get over 20 likes after 2 days and has a fairly mixed response in the comments. I’m not saying I called this shit, wait yes I am. I told you guys months ago that by the time Beyond Light came around, no one would actually care about sunsetting anymore. And here we are with the anti-sunsetting crowd is all but dead.

There's a lot of messed up people here, quite a shame. Kinda what pushed me into that post about pyrrhic victory. They treat the negative of people leaving like a good thing and claim/act like they don't care. It's rather selfish. And to quote part of Kelly's hypocrisy, "So IF YOU CARE ABOUT WHAT IS BEST FOR THE GAME...and not just your personal experience of it...". Maybe don't chase people out over expressing the negatives of a misplaced system. Less people = bad, plain and simple.

I'm pissed that destiny won't be how I know it. How I've always known it and how I thought I would know it. They want to move on to make the game something it's never been then so be it, but it's only going to push ME away and I've always enjoyed the game, no matter what position the game was in...but that's because I knew that even during its lowest point that it was still worth my time to play the game. And please, don't give me that "you can't play games to have fun" nonsense. I've been playing destiny since the first games beta and quite often. If I didn't have fun, I wouldn't be playing it to begin with. But when they want to change HOW I have fun, then they can just screw right off and it's why I've been the most uninvolved in this game I've ever been. Growing my collection was part of the fun and using it forever was too. And I'm CERTAINLY not ready to possibly re-earn the shit I already own with a different jpeg stamped on it.

No one cares if u leave. I see people saying crap like this all the time. Do u think ur special or something? Do u own any rights to the franchise? Are u part of the company? No? Ok then ur opinion don't matter. Ur just a customer and that's it. This is bungies game and they will do whatever they want to it and if u don't like it and are threatening to leave then ok bye. No one cares dude.

You are definitely not alone with this line of thinking. The decision to sunset has divided the existing playerbase, but is not an incentive to attract new players. So overall the numbers of active players will go down. How much? Time will tell.

Regardless of OP's stats, the problem with sunsetting in a game that incentivizes loot, you are now de-incentivizing loot. Going forward i'm not going to grind for any weapons, and therefore will get 1 and done drops. That in turn will lead me to not care about any form of investment and lead to no real reason to play.

Hey there, I just want to tell you not to be discouraged by sunsetting. When sunsetting was announced, I put down my mountaintop and tried something really simple but new: a Long Shadow with Tactical Mag, Triple Tap, and Rapid Hit. It hasn't left my Warlock's kinetic weapon slot for a while. Sometimes we need to try a different weapon, even if it's forced. It's sad that I'll have to put away my Beloved, since it was the weapon I first brought to the Lighthouse, to my first Fabled in Comp, the weapon I spent time with to get my Revoker (and still prefer over Revoker), the weapon my friend says I shoot him through walls with, and so on. But at the same time, it forced me to use my Omniscient Eye, Ikelos SR, and Eye of Sol. I've had a lot more fun since sunsetting was announced. Have fun too <3
