Hi there!
Is your console connected by a wired connection or wireless? Have you tried clearing your console cache?
1. Power down the console
2. Once the console is completely powered down, unplug the power cord from the back of the console
3. Let the console sit unplugged for at least 5 minutes
4. Plug the power cord back into the console and power it on
5. Re-launch the Destiny game

Hello, thank you so much for replying to me :) I've cleared the console cache multiple times. I usually use a wireless connection with a 15mb down and 15mb upload, however I have connected my PlayStation via a cable today with no improvement :( It was working perfectly an hour or so before I downloaded and installed the recent update

You can try that. You can also try connecting your console to a wireless hotspot temporarily to see if the issue subsides. Do not try to play the game through your hotspot. Simply getting past that screen may help indicate where the problem is.

You may be experiencing some form of hardware issue. Have you tried resetting your console to factory defaults? You should be able to offload any stored content to an external hard drive, then re-initialize the console.

Not necessarily. Games have different ways of connecting and communicating. If you connected your PS4 to a hotspot and still received the Chicken error code, that narrows it down to your console. There may be a setting in the Network area that may be incorrectly set or configured. You can try to reconfigure it, but it may be best to wipe it clean and re-initialize the console.
