It's finally time everyone, this will be the last of my annual checkups on Calvin the Colossus
On final chance for context
behind the lighthouse on Mercury there is an unusually powerful Colossus guarding a golden chest. As per Destiny tradition, we have named this Colossus Calvin similar to how we named that Devil Vandal "Randall" back in D1
Due to the fact that mercury will be retired, Calvin will also be removed from the game on November 10th
Over 3 years now Calvin has held his ground. Despite the red legion fracturing, despite Calus growing in power, despite the nightmare of Ghual appearing on the moon, despite time itself fracturing around him, despite the almighty crashing into earth, and EVEN despite the DARKNESS ITSELF appearing on Mercury this mad man has held the line for 3 GOD FORSAKEN YEARS
Well... Let's not waste anymore time then shall we?
OBSERVATION: as always, Calvin maintains a heavy hold on his territory, constantly circling the same area his golden chest once was. It appears that in the chests absence Calvin instead took to guarding a fragment of calcified light just a few feet away. His chest has been empty now for 3 years, so it's only natural that he direct his attention to a new treasure. A treasure I quickly took because I needed it for the quest, I'm not the villian here
CONTACT: when I moved in to make contact with Calvin I had expected him to be alerted to my presence immediately, however it appeared that despite my intentions I accidentally snuck up on him and avoided his line of sight. I decided to sit down and all of the sudden the weirdest thing happened, Calvin turned around and slowly trudged towards me and looked down. Now I know for a fact I glitched out his A.I., but a part of my found it weirdly... Poetic that our last encounter was actually peaceful for the first time (it didn't last, he nuked me the second I stood up)
RESULTS: although slightly screwed up thanks to the glitch, I think this red legion loyalist has accepted his fate. He has stood his ground, held the line, surveyed his territory, and followed orders for 3 (going on 4) of the most amazing years of my life. And despite the future of mercury and the legion, Calvin the Colossus looks over that beautiful horizon with his back against the dark.
I'll miss the stupid little guy, and I hope you will too in a way.
Real talk, I wanted to thank you all for supporting this series over the years. Each time I see new and old users comment on one of these posts, and regardless of what they say it just fills me with so much joy that you all even spent a second reading about Calvin the Colossus.
So here's to Calvin the Colossus! Long may he stand! But most importantly, here's to all of you... Thanks for the memories

1 返信Calvin, he used to be my guaranteed exotic drop kill. Every week I would see him at each reset to kill him and he would drop an exotic. Every single time. It was around when curse of Osiris dropped until forsaken launched that it worked. Yet I still had to check on him for a while hoping he would be giving exotic once again. He stopped, I didn't care anymore. Glad someone still had time to take care and see how he's doing back there.

1 返信Let it never be understated the ferocity Calvin brought to each guardian and for his long post waged. The Darkness will find no mercy in him. Fair thee well, mighty colossus.

1 返信Big F Calvin will be dearly missed. But just because we can’t visit him anymore, that doesn’t mean he’s gone. He will be the last Bastion of Mercury, the last line of defense against the Darkness. Mercury is his planet and whoever steps on his turf, will feel his wrath...

1 返信Red Legion remnants should evacuate poor Calvin. He's been so loyal, they can't just abandon him, right? I wonder if Calus has tried recruiting him...

1 返信Rest In Peace... Shame on bungo One of the last few things I liked about the game.

1 返信There is a reason the Pyrimid never went close to the lighthouse. Fear is what divides us and nothing is more scary then that guy!

1 返信It'll be REAL interesting if there's a Randal twist at the end of the Omnigul strike where he's in his perfected form and is holding Calvin's launcher 😳 And then a new mechanic appears with him and him becoming a new future ally. That'd be the ultimate love song if it happens.

3 通の返信Never forget. WE WILL SMASH THE WINNOWER AND CALVIN'S IMAGE SHALL BE PART OF THE WARBANNER. He may been the enemy but he is a worthy adversary as is Randall, and GREG. We Shall honor these Fallen foes by taking the darkness to da cleaners.

1 返信Was trying to get a group together for some FUN within the game. We were all going to use the Coin flip emote glitch to go invisible to enemies. Then we could have a dance party with Calvin. Bungie locked the emote before we could get enough people together. 😓 I have never used a glitch like the invincible titan to complete an activity. I had no intention of doing that here. For once I thought cool. We can really do some funny, and fun things in the game. No chance Bungie stomped it immediately. They just do not get that it is a game and part of the fun of games sometimes has nothing to do with actually playing it...like it was designed. Yah I know it breaks the game to be able to damage enemies without them being able to see you... But Bungie does not have a "god" mode or spectator mode that you character is actually on screen. Hell they still haven't put in a theater mode... Oh well. I guess after 6 years grousing about it is as pointless as Calvin's patrol. I get a laugh out of your posts. Cheers to Calvin.
