Switching to a new console doesn't do anything. Just because a game runs faster doesn't mean the storage of a game increases. Yes, the Series X will have more storage and such and Destiny in it's current state will not be as large in comparison to 1TB, however you also have to take into account not everyone will have the new Xbox. Besides, the current amount of resources bungie has is not very much considering activision leaving and such so it would cost lots to try to get some more server stroage running and such.

because not everyone is getting the next console right away; they said their target for this year is to crossplay between the same networks.
