[i]Technically[/i] you could argue that Omolon in-universe would try to make a new trace-rifle weapon or just rehash Coldheart in a new design for this Darkness power (Apparently they're working with Drifter in-current Season to make Darkness weapons? That's what the new 'Pyramid' weapons are.) , but no it wouldn't really make sense to have Coldheart deal Stasis damage for a couple reasons. As others said, Coldheart is just sub-zero temp* ammo powering a laser. Cold fuel, cold 'engine' or heart of the weapon. Stasis is basically the Darkness stripping all molecular energy (basically life) from something, and this results in objects freezing. Matter/energy is literally stripped of entropic energies to continue existing. It's actually pretty metal to deep-dive into, and why it is really neat how they turned a generic 'ice' element type into something Destiny-esque.

It won't since the only thing actually cold about coldheart is the system cooling off the weapon so it can shoot arc so it won't overheat. The lore about the weapon itself tell us that much.

Cold heart gets its name from a cooling component. It's an arc weapon that uses a liquid cooling system to keep the gun cold, despite the searing nature of arc. Personally, I thought the exotic would be ice damage when I first got it... so I can see why people want it to be a Stasis weapon.

But if it's on solar then it can't be cold

How is Coldheart, a weapon that fires an Arc beam and made prior to the discovery of Stasis suddenly going to just become stasis? Coldheart does not fire ice and was never intended to and Stasis isnt ice either, its temporal crystalized energy so what kind of connection are you making?

I'm in the camp of making Divinity stasis instead.

We're probably just going to get a new stasis fusion rifle. But that would be cool too. Since they don't want to keep making new weapons, revitalise the old ones.
