Don't see what the issue is when other games do it just fine.
If you want to play with cross-platform, they make it toggable. Call of Duty and Fortnite are the staple example of this; because it's opt IN instead of opt OUT.

Other games have actual anti-cheat implementation. And do you really think Bungie is going to make it optional, they don't make anything optional unless people complain about something for years before they implement it.

As much as a flip of a switch I would like it to be, it's not really a flip of a switch for a networking standpoint. They already have a part of it set by cross save being linked to an account. They then need to reconfigure the matchmaker to check for cross-platform enabled or not via Bungie account. It's really on Bungie if they go this route. They just need to tie it to a centralized account like Call of Duty Modern Warfare did successfully. Personally, I hope cross-platform becomes a thing. Don't see a downside to it when it's opt-IN instead of opt-out. I genuinely believe if they were going to implement this, they're already thinking of how to separate it like Call of Duty did it. Though, I think they're not doing it; because cross-save it already enough of a compromise to them. Lastly, anti-cheat is not guaranteed to work. Only delays the inevitable and prevents "basic" or "low-effort" attempts at cheating. See Riot's rootkit.... I MEAN Kernal level anti-cheat for Valorant being evaded in 48 hours. Cheaters are not that common, as many make them out to be but I do understand the concern. Though, I do not believe the false alarm about their rampant abuse being all over the game en mass. Are they more prominent? Yes; because the game is now free to play. From a IT perspective and studying for to get into the ITS as a career field, I wonder why cheater bans have not been setup for MAC-address bans yet?
