Weapons and armor from individual seasons should share the same power cap as their identical counterparts from the season they were in the loot pool again.
Example:
Gnawing hunger from season of the drifter. It currently has a max light level of 1060. Ok makes sense so far if bungie is intent on capping power level.
Gnawing hunger from season of the arrivals has a max light of 1360. Uh what? Your telling me the exact same weapon has two different power caps?
This is an artificial way to force us to literally obtain the same gun or armor twice if we want back what we had. It’s confusing, and and an unhealthy and toxic way to keep players from using what they want.
In my opinion this is the number 1 problem on my list that needs to be fixed. Maybe it’s not number 1 for you but most of us can agree this is not ok.
Upvote and reply if you’d like to see this changed!
Edit: Good job people. This game won’t change unless players who value the game become heard. Many of us have been here since the beginning. If we are going to use the same things then don’t punish the veteran players who are the backbone of this game! Everything you do on this thread keeps it at the top!
500 upvotes! 500 more and we can make them listen with 1,000 voices!!! 😝

There needs to be some sunsetting, but it can’t just be a blanket everything pre x date is gone like it seems to be so far. I think they should either update old weapons power caps when they get re-issued. Ie: All gnawing hungers should be 1360. Or do some sort of upgrade system. You have a god rolled 1060 gnawing hunger, so you need to get any 1360 gnawing hunger to infuse into it. If there’s a perk that’s been removed from the weapons pool then replace that perk on the 1060 with whatever is in that slot on the 1360.

Lull9により編集済み: 6/26/2020 4:55:36 AMIt was never about balance. It's always been about minimal effort for Bungie to just keep reusing stuff. Two yearly expansions in a row with reused patrol areas. Very disappointing.

I'm not surprised next they'll be renaming guns such as mountaintop and throwing it in iron banner or else where. Same gun new name and look is the next step.
-
Yup. They claim it's to add variety. I'll use my old gun to get my new exact same gun sooooo..... nope, doesn't hold water. They claim file size issues. Doesn't double the loot take more space? They claim there's too much to balance. Yet it's all still there, and with artifact levels, I'd think you could get to a reasonably high lvl and still use 1 or 2 old guns with low light, just because they "break the balance". It's already easy to picture posts in lfg "must have original version of *insert crazy old gun here*". None of their arguments make any sense. If you're gonna bend me over, at least buy me dinner first. Oh, I'm buying? Don't think so...

I just watched Aztecross’s TWAB review and he casually skimmed over the “re-issuing” of Iron Banner weapons like Bite of the Fox and the armor set. Don’t mind me, I only got Bite of the Fox 7 seasons ago after grinding tokens for it. How fun, now I can do it all over again, new content, banzai! If Bungie is gonna sunset stuff, actually put the gear down. I at least want a new perk set and a new weapon model, is it that hard?
-
I have 50k kills on my Nation of Beasts. If I want to get 50k more, I feel like I should have that option.
-
It’s almost like they are killing their own argument for sunsetting by doing this...
-
-
We covered this last month when everyone thought sunsetting was a good idea. It’s not - and it’s happening exactly the way we thought it would...next...
-
It is also a way to guarantee a powerful perk combo can be taken away. Basically all sunsetting really is is a perpetual rolling nerf.
-
The majority of people with common sense called it and the destiny fanboys said sunsetting was a great idea. Look where we are now, we got a few new weapons and one new set of armor and thats it. The aesthetic alone would make me want to play the game, the new swords are worth grinding for. There was never a point to sunset anything in the game

Want to have an immediate impact? DON’T PRE-ORDER! It’s obvious Bungie gives two shites what we think. This is bull shite and we’re letting it happen. DON’T PRE-ORDER!!!
-
Bungie: We want to try new weapons, not just play with one old gun the whole time Also Bungie: here's an identical gun to the one you already have, just a different gold number on it.

Of all the anti-sunsetting posts I've seen, this one I agree with the most. What is the point of investing the time and energy in mastworking a weapon that can show kill count if after a year it will be worthless. I understood when weapons 2.0 came around and we got another perk and we got random rolls why my babies needed to be vaulted or dismantled in favor of new items. It made sense, new perks and a gear chase. However, I've seen this myself, a weapon I got in Forsaken now in Season of Arrivals and it has the same roll, and a higher power cap...but I can not bring my kills since masterworking it....so why waste the items masterworking the item...

Bungie doesn't care or listen. They are lazy and want to be able to reskin everything over and over. This game is boring af and we are nothing but farmed. EVERY SEASON IS SEASON OF THE GUARDIAN FARM. This is all about bungle being to lazy to make real content. Recaster is only reskinned form of obelisk and bunker. RESKIN, RESKIN, RESKIN AND RESKIN. Even worse bungie doesn't have an ounce of respect for our time, effort and materials. Bungie's only mission is to farm our hours and force us to play the game to get a bunch of worthless crap they will take away because they are to lazy to make new weapons. Bungie has reach the height of worthless and uncaring.

I feel the same way. I understand and agree with the need for weapon sun setting, similar to how sets cycle out of the traditional “standard” format in a trading card game such as magic or hearthstone. This keeps the game fresh and allows new players to be competitive without easy access to old cards/weapons that have rotated out. But in a trading card game, if they reprint an old card in a new set/expansion, both the new copies and the old copies become standard legal again. When Bungie “reprints” an old gun, old copies of the gun should again become “standard legal” by having their power cap updated accordingly. This will prevent us from having to grind out the same old guns, and actually get us excited for each seasons exciting new “reprints”. I can imagine them bringing back Dire Promise in a couple seasons, and with this mechanic, all of us with our beloved Dire Promise god rolls will rejoice! Honestly, it only seems fair. I’m just glad I don’t have to buy new basic lands every time a new MTG expansion comes out, haha.
