Suggestions: Bounties, Rewards & Vendors

At the end of Destiny2y1 I began thinking about ways to improve the bounty system, how we obtain gear while leveling / through bounties and what roles various vendors could play. Below are summaries of the 3 -- feel free to reply/message if you have any questions or other suggestions. 1) Bounty Acquisition: Finally Bungie is realizing the dread of picking up bounties while in a group. Clan mates or friends hop on — "yeah, come play with us!" ... "wait, go here, pick up these bounties, we'll be in orbit when you're done." <insert a few moments later meme for everyone partying> Bounties should be obtained via the Director (as described from the previous TWAB). However, to keep immersion, the UI should maintain that these bounties are obtained through Ghost comms. We have NPCs communicate to us via our Ghost throughout the solar system. They should also relay bounties to us the same way so thjat we can immediately start playing with friends or pickup what we need on the fly. This could be done via a menu from the destination where the vendor is located or, the activity in which you are playing could have a list of all available bounties that could progress during that given activity. For example, when hovering over the Forge playlist, a submenu would appear in which you could pickup forge-related bounties from ADA, Banshee bounties (being generic gun kills), any Zavala or seasonal bounties to kill Fallen/Cabal/etc. 2) Deterministic Bounty Rewards & Better Leveling: As for bounty rewards and leveling progression, bounties themselves could be broken down into 2 main types: experience/resources OR gear. Experience/resource bounties are typically faster and can be completed from the Quests tab of the Director. Easy. However, for any bounty that rewards gear, completing it from the Director as you would with the simpler bounties would reward any piece of gear from the appropriate engram pool (as it does now). Alternatively, rather than completing this type of bounty from the Director, should the player go to the vendor who provided said bounty, they would be greeted with the option to claim either a weapon or armor engram. In doing so, growing your light level would be much more enjoyable as you have more control over the pieces you are obtaining. Do you only need a heavy weapon upgrade to get that next delta in power? Cool—grind out gear bounties and when completed, visit the vendor and claim the weapon engram. Also, if there is a specific weapon or armor set from a planet that you are grinding for, dividing the possible rewards between a weapon or piece of armor significantly improves those odds and respects more of the player's time. It's surprising how the community isn't talking more about the astronomically-low chances of obtaining items or rolls that you are looking for. This is becoming worse and worse with Rahool, especially—if we are just throwing every other piece of loot, seasonal or not, from the last 3 years into the same engram, at least give us the option to select weapons or armor! Lastly, if someone feels that they have all of the gear they need or do not care about the loot pool from that vendor, they can still quickly complete the bounty from the Director to obtain a random drop from the appropriate loot pool (as the system currently allows). 3) Vendors: The bounty reward changes outlined in #2 blends in with this third topic by not only retaining player agency with every vendor, but improving it. As it stands now, honestly, the planetary vendors are pointless. At their best, they offer 1-2 bounties you can do on the way to completing your other, more rewarding bounties for X activity. But by changing the way bounties reward gear as outlined above, you not only breathe life back into Devrim, Sloan and Asher, but also Shaxx, Zavala, Banshee, Rahool...every NPC that takes resources or tokens for gear—even Calus' robots! By separating engram options to weapons or armor, players can finally spend their 10k+ legendary shards and have a realistic shot of obtaining something close to what they are looking for. These are just some thoughts I've been vocalizing to my friends and clanmates throughout the years but I thought I'd share them with the community considering the current state of the game. Other conversations, like the current flood of cheaters and the state of trials (we need weapons with the name qualifier 'Adept' and even a slight, if not modest visual indication of such -- players like to show things off. Nobody cares to show off a mod tucked away inside their ubiquitous weapon). I digress.
