This is a known issue Bungie is investigating.

Whether due to accidental deletion or game glitches, Bungie does not restore lost gear, unfortunately.

You've got to be joking. So bungie says "we're not going to ban people with high stats in crucible because of exploits since thats our fault". but when your hard earned gear doesn't drop they're not going to help, as that's their fault?
