Your plan would only work for slug shotguns (which already work that way). Most shotguns in games are like real life and shoot out loads of small shot in a spread pattern. Your real problem is not the weapon but how you play against players who use shotguns. THINK. What are the shotgun's strengths and how not to play into them. What are the shotgun's weaknesses and how to use them. Keep your distance. Do not run at someone. If someone runs at you back off or disengage to fight when you do have distance. Stay out of CQB areas or places where people are camping. Bait them out. Adapt...…. Improvise........ Overcome.

That doesn't work due to the map design. Most of the time somebody rushes you with a shotgun because there is a wall behind you.

  • There you go two issues you pointed out that you as a player has. 1. Situational awareness. Placing a wall behind you limiting movement or not realising that a wall was behind you blocking escape. Know what is around you and know which ways you can manoeuvre. 2. Thinking that there is no option due to map design. Maps are big enough for snipers so there is enough room to manoeuvre. It is you placing walls behind you not the map and there is always ways to manoeuvre left open by design. Your only excuse is if you are caught in a pincer by multiple opponents leaving you trapped in multiple lines of fire. Learn the maps. Know where cover is, know a escape route (you may not make it to that cover due to incoming fire but you have a chance to get away to heal or lead the opponent into a friends line of fire).

  • The thing is is that in order to take points you have to go into cramped interiors most of the time. I'm finding that high discipline build with sticky grenades works pretty well against shotgun ape users, because the moment I stick that grenade (I have molten overload on it as well) the enemy suddenly can't out dps me on time to get the kill. That being said, it's still just stupid how good some of the spread shotguns are. They are mindless one-shot machines which is what I have a problem with. It has nothing to do with circumstance, something like that just shouldn't be so easy to use. Snipers can get one shots, but they have to be headshots. LFRs can get one shots, but they have to charge up and they use heavy ammo. Fusion rifles, however, I also think could also use a rework, because they are just an easy one shot without needing heavy ammo.
