How does glory even work now?

Does anybody understand how glory works now? When I first started this season, I would get 250 or so glory every win and lose only like 20 on a loss. Now that I've reached 4500 though it's completely different. I earn 40 glory on a win, 80 on a 5 win streak. But each loss I lose almost 200 now. I don't understand what is affecting my glory gains and losses so significantly, but I cannot progress because one loss sets me back nearly 4 wins. It seems wrong that an 80% win ratio in a comp session breaks even. Can someone help me understand one: why this is happening, and two: how to fix it. Thanks!

  • My biggest concern with this system right now is not the boosted early phase or the SBMM. I actually have an issue with the glory awarding system itself. Once you are in mythic, it seems incredibly unreasonable to lose more points than you gain considering the high skill level of every person/team you encounter. If it was more even, where maybe a 2 win streak would award the same amount of glory as a loss would take, it wouldn't be too bad. But during my grind, I noticed that while on a 5 win streak, i was only getting like 80 or so glory on wins. Then two losses in a row cut me down 400 glory back to where I had started the night. Other people report losses only deduct about 80 glory for them. I'm not sure what is affecting the difference there. Both games I lost were close calls too, 3 to 3 in a tiebreaker round. My KD wasn't too bad, usually around a 1.5. On another note, I did finally reach legend, it just took a 9 win streak being cancerous with fusions and mountaintop. Just gonna drop another small hint here that fusions' range needs to be nerfed hard X_X

  • they explained it before the season launched. you was getting more points at the start so it boosted you up to the skill bracket that you should be in. now youre there its back to good ol comp sucking, not much for a win and losses hit hard!

  • I got around 300 a win before fabled, then on a 5 streak I am getting 120 a win and idk how much a loss. 75 a loss is still the normal once at legend though.

  • It’s kind of like . . . You’ll never get all the loot you want . . . The thing is to love the loot you get.👍

  • It’s something like 200 a win and -20 a loss and then after fabled, like 40 a win and -60 a loss. Idk if those numbers are exact accurate but it’s somewhere around that.

Its more like a competitive ladder. You start out against weaker opponents...and then---based on your "True Skill" rating (I assume looking at your perfromance stats)....the game predicts where you will end up on the Ladder (glory ranking). Then if feeds you opponentes necessary to get you the quickly...and then plateau out. So its like an ever-tightening form of SBBMM. VEry loose at first....but gets tighter and tigther as you progress. Till you start to win about half your matches, and you plateau out. Difference? In comp last year (Because of the old system and no freelance play list) Comp matches were VERY difficult to win. As solo player I didn't get within sniffing distance of any of the pinnacle weapons that required you to reach particular Glory ranks. My longest win streak was 3 matches. This season. I lost my first 4 matches in a row.....but then (in Freelance) went on a tear that got me to Fabled Rank in a single day's play. Which got me both Recluse, the points needed for Randy's Throwing Knife, and I can go back and get the hand cannon kills needed to finish off Luna's Howl if I choose. At one point I was able to string together 9 wins in a row. The difference simply being the pool of players getting bigger....the changes to MM, and not having to go up agianst stacked teams in most games.

      • They changed glory points to performance based I believe up to mythic, so the better you perform the more your points would go up and you’d lose less for a loss. Once you get to mythic you need to always be on a win streak in order to progress

Maybe this link will help? I'm not the greatest player. I did all the pinnacle weapons this season. Mostly because I don't like what they are doing to PVE. Loss points seem to vary if you have no win streaks, but there is a chart for the "win" points based on rank. Best to not focus on the points too much or you will hate life. I lost 500-800 several times on my climb. I think I finished on an 8 win streak. https://www.shacknews.com/article/111876/crucible-glory-ranks-and-point-requirements-destiny-2
