I used to live in Dublin 4, in Ireland, before I moved to ass end of nowhere, and my next door neighbour at the time owned a Porsche Boxster. He’d drive it into work every day, he worked less than 3 blocks away ( and these are Irish blocks, not the long blocks of US cities like New York and Florida ). Why’d he need a such a fancy, expensive car to drive such a short distance, one that I could walk in under 5 minutes? I honestly couldn’t tell you. I suspect power in Destiny is much the same thing. Do you need it? Probably not, but if you have it, you probably want to show it off. It should be noted that streamers at the first Destiny community summit asked for Power to become a status symbol again. They missed the ‘glory days’ of Destiny 1 where being max light meant that you Raided, and that you did so often enough RNGesus had blessed you with a full set of Raid gear.
