I’m just now getting back into Destiny, haven’t played since D1 but always been a pvp player so naturally I like things like Iron Banner. I see that Iron Banner is still light level enabled in D2, so I was wondering how much of a difference will it be for a player that is only at light level 901. In D1 there was one time where I wasn’t at the cap and could still play like normal. The thing is this time I’m outgunned, out geared and people have more knowledge about the game in general. I am however a decent pvper if that helps. My overall KD in D1 is 2.43 and I’m at 1.96 in D2. Would it be wise to play Iron Banner this time around or sit out ? How big of a disadvantage would I be at ?

Ok so it seems my light level is glitched. I'm currently 962 (season of undying) and I'm getting 1 shot by almost everything in IB. I haven't seen anything about this anywhere, but to double check I wasn't mad I compared my damage numbers to those in rumble and in IB I'm doing a lot less damage, even against those in 20 or even 30 light above. Does anyone know how to fix this or has even seen this before???

It doesn’t matter much if you play smart. Lots of people (me included) dropped their light by 100+ for a triumph a couple seasons ago and it wasn’t that noticeable. Run around like it’s rumble and don’t keep to cover and you’re going to get wrecked regardless of your light.

Fast way to level up. Go to every planet and open the regional chests if you haven’t opened them. They will get you up to 900. Then turn in tokens for vendors to get above 900. Then to go to 950 you will have to do pinnacle rewards. Getting to 900 could be done in a couple hours. 900 to 950 will take longer unless you raid. I’m 930+ on most of my characters with the artifact bonus.

You'll only get a noticeable difference when going against people 20-30 levels above you. Even then, its not an advantage that will overcome a skill gap in most scenarios. If you're concerned, I would just grind out your power for a day or two more then jump in, no need to miss the whole week.

I don't there will be much difference. If you think about it a couple of seasons ago they had that challenge to lower your light level to earn kills for an emblem and fusion rifle. I'll be around 930 for Iron Banner.

Honestly I'm not too sure, but I'd advise getting your light as high as possible otherwise even less than average players will wreck you. I'll be going in at about 940 myself and that is a fair amount lower than the higher light people even just on my small list of friends. About 960 is probably the higher light lvs you'll see in there. I'm already thinking it's going to be rough for anyone under 950.
